GUILTY FL - Pierre Roche, 26, & Derrick Days, 10 mos, die in gang shooting, 13 Dec 2008

Was the baby's dad a member of one of the gangs? If not, why was he there?
I realize that they were playing a game but why would he have even been around gang members and especially with his baby?

I'm not sure if the father was in a gang; a lot of men play dominoes of all different ages. He could have been present there playing with a senior citizen while others played at tables as well. There's not a lot of details in the articles.

This is a reason why the U.S. should still be able to execute teenagers. These two are evil, heartless, scum bags. The cowards prey on the weakeast in society, an infant.

Absolutely disgusting.

"
Pierre Roche, 27, the intended target of a gunman's bullets, died in the gunfire, too. Two teenagers, Jimmie Bowen, 16, and Bernard Jones, 17, were arrested Thursday for their murders.
A judge Friday found probable cause to send the case of the two suspects to a Miami-Dade grand jury -- the first step to jail time with adults.
Bowen is charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Jones is charged with two counts of felony murder."

"
Jones drove the Dodge Ram that spirited his gun-toting pal away, investigators believe.
Miami-Dade police said Roche, 27, was part of a gang called Clown City, which had been feuding with the New Money Boys.
Saturday afternoon, Derrick was sitting in the lap of his father, a friend of Roche. They were playing dominoes outside a house at 5826 NW 22nd Ave. when a masked gunman ran up and began firing.
Derrick's father, the elder Derrick Days, shielded his son -- but one bullet pierced the boy's chest and lung. Derrick was rushed to the hospital but died within hours. Roche, the son of Miami Police Officer Pierre Roche, was shot several times and died two days later at Jackson Memorial Hospital. A third man, Christopher Smith, 22, suffered a shoulder wound."

Here's some background info on the murders.

A Miami-Dade jury convicted Bowen and Jones last year in the December 2008 murder of infant Derrick Days and another man, Pierre Roche, 26. Prosecutors say Bowen and Jones, members of the New Moneii gang, targeted Roche in a dispute over drug turf.
