Prosecutor Goes Missing

Joseph Kristan Jr., 59, who works at juvenile court in Rockville, was last seen at his home Jan. 15, and his car is missing, troopers said.

A state juvenile court prosecutor from Tolland disappeared last week and Connecticut state police are searching for him.

Kristan's wife, Rhona, told the Journal Inquirer of Manchester that her husband was not depressed and his disappearance is completely out of the ordinary.

Kristan was last seen wearing a baseball cap and a black down jacket.

He might be driving a red 1989 Chrysler convertible with Connecticut license plate 599-UBA, police said. He's described as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall and 178 pounds, with glasses and a goatee. He also has a 4-inch scar on the back of his head, police said.

State police have entered information about the case to a nationwide missing person's database.

That town is surrounded by what looks like a lot of wooded area, and I see a few ponds as well. Wonder what the weather has been like there since he went missing.

Still missing prosecutor sent letters, postcards to family

Joseph J. Kristan Jr., a 30-year juvenile prosecutor for the state who has been missing since January, has been sending correspondence to his family from Florida, Mississippi, and Tennessee, but his whereabouts are still unknown, the family’s lawyer, David Marder, said Thursday.

“We haven’t hired a private investigator, the target keeps moving,” Marder said.

Marder told the judge that Kristan has been in contact with the family through postcards and letters. One of the letters came from a hotel in Jackson, Miss. That’s when the family hired someone to look for him, but learned that Kristan was never registered at the hotel.

Next, Kristan contacted them through a letter from Florida, but the return address was an old address from Rhona Kristan’s deceased mother’s apartment. The family has no connection to that property today, his wife said.

Most recently they received correspondence from Joseph Kristan from Tennessee.

Marder said that the Tennessee contact was “very recent.”

An after-hours phone call Wednesday to Marder’s office from someone they believe was Kristan told Marder to stop contacting a third party about his whereabouts and also about money.

It is believed Marder still has his cell phone.

Is he really sending mail to family?
Is he really leaving voice mail messages?
Why can't the police track him through cell phone use?
How does he have enough money to whip all over the south, Fl, MS, TN.U.S?
If he is using a credit card, can't they track him, better yet, the bank calls LE
when the card is used?

His wife has m.s. and his two children live at home. Perhaps, he had some sort of overload syndrome and just decided to leave.
His wife has hundreds of dollars in prescription costs monthly.

SOUTH WINDSOR — The family of Joseph J. Kristan Jr., a 30-year juvenile court prosecutor who’s been missing since January, has withdrawn its application from probate court for trusteeship of Kristan’s estate, the family’s lawyer said Thursday.

When asked if Kristan has returned to the state, the family’s lawyer, I. David Marder, said “no comment.”

State Police investigating missing person Joseph Kristan

Connecticut State Police at Troop C in Tolland are investigating the report of a missing person. The missing person is Joseph Kristan, age 59, d.o.b. 03/25/1949, of Tolland. Mr. Kristan was reported missing after not showing up for work.



Mr. Kristan was last seen at his residence in the Tolland area on January 15, 2009. Mr. Kristan is a white male, 5'10", 178 lbs, green eyes, gray hair (receding hairline), goatee, tri-focal glasses and olive complexion. He also has a 4” scar on the back of his head...More...

wow this case takes alot of turns

Going through court documents and ran across his wifes case for the legal seperation. It shows that it has been -Disposition: WITHDRAWAL OF ACTION as she did not appear

So she is not going forward with the seperation i assume
