"FORT PIERCE -- Two men were arrested on charges of making false reports to authorities after lying about a drug deal gone bad, St. Lucie County Sheriffs investigators said.
At about 7:20 p.m., Wednesday, Fort Pierce residents David Richardson and Justin Pope called 9-1-1 to report that they had been robbed, according to sheriffs reports.
They said they had been driving along La Salle Street with Richardsons girlfriend when two men, one armed with a gun, approached their vehicle and demanded money, deputies said.
Richardson, 23, and Pope, 22, said they handed over $450 and the men ran into a nearby home, the reports state.
Deputies arrived at the 5100 block of La Salle and rounded up 11 possible suspects to question regarding the alleged theft, according to the reports.
Richardson, his girlfriend, and Pope all said they were robbed and denied going to La Salle to purchase drugs, deputies said.
But the alleged gunman told deputies that Richardson had arranged to buy marijuana that night. So he taped up some herbs and sold the fake pot to Richardson for $450, deputies said."
