Sheriff's deputies were called Wednesday morning to the home of Shannon Renfro, 38, at 21140 County Road in Morrison.

OSBI agents say Shannon Renfro's 12-year-old son shot her in the stomach. More

Deputies found her with a gunshot to the stomach. Paramedics rushed Renfro to Stillwater Medical Center, where she died a few hours later.

It's absolutely terrifying how many young kids now turn to murder. May the mom rest in peace.

It is so frightening.

What in the world is happening to our very young juveniles?

imo

The mother is sure a pretty woman. It will be interesting to see why this boy would shoot his mother like that. Now we have an 8 yr old, an 11 yr old, and a 12 yr old that have murdered their parents. Pretty scary.

Don't forget the two recent cases of 13 year old's that murdered their brothers. One over a seat to watch tv and the other to gain control of a drug empire.

DA trying to figure out how to proceed with the case. Unsure how to proceed with the case. He said his decision on how to prosecute the boy will determine how much time he may serve, if convicted."It's either you stay a child and get out at 18 or you become an adult at age 11 or 12," Gibson said. The family's pastor said the 12-year-old has a mental disability.

It seems like we are hearing of a lot of children 10-13 killing a parent lately. It does pose the question of how to punish these children. Juvenille detention until 18 doesn't seem harsh enough and adult prison too harsh. I think either punishment will just create a violent adult. Is it even possible to rehabilitate these children or were they just born mean??? Surely they don't fully understand what they have done???

I think we need to come up with better solutions to this emerging problem of violence in our children :(
