Children's author pleads not guilty in *advertiser censored* case

Kevin Bath, who writes by the name K.P. Bath, wrote the Castle Cant series of mysteries. Calls to his home seeking comment after the Monday arraignment were not answered.

Investigators alleged that Bath, 50, had been trading child *advertiser censored* with individuals in Washington state and Ohio and that his computer and data storage contained more than 100 files of still images of child *advertiser censored*, many involving very young children....

Bath's lawyer, Patrick John Sweeney, said his client had no criminal record, had never been accused of harming a child and has undergone therapy several times a week for months......

Wonder why his lawyer felt the need to mention therapy if the guy's not guilty......:waitasec:

Man, what one can learn from comments!! I did not know that K.P. Bath, the children's author was charged with child *advertiser censored*. I do now, after reading the comments under the child *advertiser censored* sentence for the Portland Tri-met driver.

Sentencing set in June for Portland children's author K.P. Bath after child *advertiser censored* guilty plea

"Children's author K.P. Bath pleaded guilty in a Portland courtroom today to possessing child *advertiser censored* that he traded on the Internet and now faces up to seven years in prison for his crimes.

Bath, the 51-year-old author of "The Secret of Castle Cant" and "Escape from Castle Cant," was abandoned last spring by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers after the publisher learned of the allegations.

Bath stood before U.S. District Judge Ancer L. Haggerty as he pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing child *advertiser censored*. The author, wearing a dark suit and thick-framed glasses, spoke so softly at times that the judge asked him to get closer to the microphone.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents first learned of Bath's involvement in child *advertiser censored* in September 2007, when they uncovered e-mails between the author and a Seattle man who used the screen name "Sickman069....."

Wanted to make sure everyone saw this statement from the link above:

"Investigators later searched Bath's North Portland home, seizing a Compaq Presario computer and two thumb drives that contained thousands of photographs and more than 125 videos of child *advertiser censored*, Assistant U.S. Attorney Gary Sussman said at Bath's plea hearing.

Prosecutors have alleged that some of the images were of infants, toddlers and prepubescent children, some of whom were bound and appeared to be the victims of sadistic and violent behavior...."

Children's book author, children's doctor. It's all about access and immersion. Dr. Bradley and Mr. Bath share a disgusting interest. Isn't it of note, that both seem very "odd" and not quite socially adept?

i wonder if this ase is tied to the other one where the guy used his daughter.

kbl--I think you might be referring to the OTHER Oregon pedophile in court today. I addressed your question on the other thread, the one for Terance Carpenter, who got 50 years for filming his daughter. I added another article about the judge. Very interesting.

This guy, Bath, was known for giving children's readings at libraries all over the northwest. I've seen several comments about kids sitting on his lap during the readings.

Sorry about that Coke, there. There's no way to see if you've just taken a sip.

Before I even scrolled on down I KNEW I was going to read this guy gave book signings or readings. I was hoping it wouldn't say parents let the kids sit on the pervs lap.

Just wanted to say YES YES YES I'm a parent and yeah I allowed my kid to sit on Santa's lap. I'm not blaming any victims. However, Lewis Carroll has always been on my radar and my kid was an avid reader and we'd been to book signings and readings and no way, no how was any kids sitting on any laps.

This makes my head hurt. Like it's going to blow off hurt. I don't know this author or his books, but I'd be looking for hidden meanings now.

Just enough time to write a few more children's novels but not nearly enough time to make me happy. The prosecutor took umbrage with Bath's letter to the court. I take umbrage too. Talk about weasley and deflecting behavior. I wish the judge would have increased the sentence due to Bath's complaint!!

A quote from K.P. Bath which I found here:

http://crimeshadowsnews.com/main/20...uthor-child-*advertiser censored*-enthusiast/

"I was so well read that grown-ups fled in terror from the prospect of talking to me. They still do, as a matter of fact. I get along splendidly with children, however, who are less nervous."

So, what happens to this literature? I happen to know that it's still quite popular and is even in audio form. I know several of our kids read it and it's always been in the windows of the Ashland bookstores due to the fact we are a Shakespeare town and many tourists buy books about castles and such to take home for children. I'm not certain but I think Bath has read in Ashland.

I have VERY conflicted feelings about his books now. Much the same way I feel about "Alice in Wonderland" and a number of others of note. I'm interested to hear about others' reactions.
