Who is missing in the area? Kimberly Jones is still missing from Parkersburg. Today is her 26th birthday. One of the news reports say they expect to find more bodies.

In a developing story out of Harrison County, Clarksburg police now say a suspect in two murders has now killed himself. 45-year old James Childers of Clarksburg took his own life as police were coming to his room at the Townhouse West Motel outside of Clarksburg.

Authorities were obtaining warrants earlier today for Childers' arrest for the murders of two women. The bodies of the two females were found in separate locations, one in Barbour County and one in Braxton County. Authorities believe the two women were killed in separate incidents, but Childers was the suspect in each murder.

The tips were pretty specific to lead right to the bodies. I wonder who phoned them in?

At WBOY, there is a live link to a presser. No presser playing and no time given.

LE received letters. Still trying to determine if someone else was involved. Suspect is nice handyman type guy. Presser ending.

Clarksburg Police---Childers may have been responsible as many as FIVE murders. Two bodies have been found, but there may be there more bodies in Braxton County. Police say they Childers confessed to the crimes in a two-hour audio tape and letter to the police department last night.

That's an update on the metronews link in the original post. I used to work at the Courthouse in Clarksburg and probably talked to this guy before. I wish they'd post a pic.

I couldn't hear the presser either. Even with my speakers all the way up.

The police are making it sound like these are recent murders, over the last year. He did have a car. I wonder if he was bringing women in from out of the area. There is Kim Jones missing from Parkersburg and the woman missing from KY.

Investigators also tell WSAZ.com that the body was found on property owned by the suspect's family.

The childers are a big family in the area.

Has there been any mention that these victims could possibly be children?

(snips)
Police received a two-hour audio that included information that there had been a homicide in the city sometime in the past year, officers said.

The FBI Evidence Response Team is on that scene.
Authorities have not released the sexes of the victims.
The state medical examiner's office will work to identify the victims.
The state police say troopers are actively searching for two more victims in the Copen area of Braxton County. Police have not released a motive or time frame of when the other murders may have happened.

Police say Childers was a handyman and did not have much of a criminal record. Investigators were looking the possibility that Childers was involved in some arsons in Clarksburg.

A Clarksburg man who police say was “under the radar” confessed to five murders then killed himself when police tried to arrest him.
Police say James Childers, 45, sent an envelope to police containing notes and an audio tape providing information about the five homicides as well as four arson fires.
Police have recovered the bodies of two victims, both believed to be female, and the search continues for three more bodies. One decomposed body was found in Barbour County and another in Braxton County. (more at link)
