Sad story. A mother of 5 was murdered on Mothers Day in her home. Her youngest children are 8 year old twins. She was a school nurse and well liked by everyone.

Here are the local articles

NH is never forthcoming about their investigations, suspects or the arrest. It's really hard to get the information.

I will continue to follow-up as details come out or an arrest is made.

"There were six people there when police arrived, but they had been there overnight," Strelzin said. "It appears they were there during the time she was murdered."

Strelzin said two of the people were Burns' teenage children. The other four were also teenagers. Police said that when they arrived, Burns was already dead.

Burns was recently divorced from her husband of 17 years. Court paperwork shows she had filed a restraining order in 2007. It expired, but a judge issued another restraining order as part of their December divorce decree.

Considering she had a restraining order from her husband..she obviously feared him for some reason. I really hope this isn't going where I think it's going, for the childrens sake.

Stabbing is usually a crime of passion--done by someone close to the victim. I'm afraid this is going where we don't want it to go.....

I am thinking the same thing. No new information yet.

Who were the other four people not related but at the house? Could be the kid's friends staying over. Going into that house with that many people in it is a pretty bold move.

Here is a little more information. http://www.wmur.com/news/19453340/detail.html

For some reason her ex sounds familiar to me. I am going to check on that
I just heard about this on the local news tonight. :(
Her ex sounds familiar to me too? :(
Was it Ed Burns?
I don't know why their names sound so familiar, but i don't live very far away from all this....:(
They did say the public doesn't have to worry?

From the article linked above:

The final divorce decree, dated November 2008, said that witnesses testified that her husband incessantly criticized her. The court records also state that Stacey Burns claimed he drank a lot and on several occasions had bonfires in which he burned her clothes, cosmetics and other belongings.

There was an Ed Burns dealership years ago. Maybe his son?

Ha I just realized that I know his divorce lawyer very well..he actually filled in for my lawyer once in my divorce. What a small world.

It's pretty apparent what happened here. Unfortunately, it looks like it's going where so many of these cases go,.........nowhere. I pray LE gets their act together and does the right thing for this victim as well as those children. Of late, we've seen it playing over and over our Nation, it seems these guys aren't stopping with erasing just the wife anymore. Now they're including the kids as well.

God help those children. I hope they're with someone other than their father. :(

I found this http://www.wickedlocal.com/natick/n...r-Natick-woman-will-take-care-of-their-5-kids

Monday, New Hampshire Senior Assistant Attorney General Jeff Strelzin said the children, who range from age 7 to 15, were with a family friend. He said the New Hampshire Department of Children, Youth and Family will determine who will take custody of the children

This is so sad. NH is well known for not making their cases public after the Pamela Smart Case. We just had a murder local, the perps pled guility however we have no idea "why", "who" and for "what". The dead mans girlfriend has a warrant out for her arrest for theft of funds, one of the perps father committed suicide but the facts of the case have never been made public.

It is said that the divorce was final however her husband was going back to court about the assest division and that he was at fault for the divorce

One problem I have is his lawyer Stephen White is not a well known lawyer in the State of NH. We have many other high profile lawyers so why Stephen White? He has been in trouble with the NH Bar Association a few times but this is the only one that I could find anything on

It appears that the family had many assests before the divorce. I am placing by bet on the ex husband.

Community Remembers Slain Wolfeboro Mother: http://www.wmur.com/news/19471649/detail.html

WOLFEBORO, N.H. -- Mourners packed Saint Katherine Drexel Catholic church to remember Stacey Burns, the Wolfeboro mother of five found stabbed to death inside her home.

Friends and family wore pink shirts and scarves to honor Burns. Friends said pink was her favorite color.

"Whatever they had that was pink," said a friend, Heather Hutchinson. "She was a fan of pink."

News 9's Aaron Kellogg reported that the church was filled to capacity and many mourners lined up outside the church to listen to speakers.

Four teenagers wearing pink held pink balloons as they stood near the hearse carrying Burns. The teenagers handed the balloons to youngsters who later released them.

Each balloon had a heart-shaped piece of paper with a message from students at Carpenter School, where Burns worked as a nurse.

Thursday evening, residents of the tight-knit community held a candlelight vigil.

Burns' body was found in her home Sunday, and investigators said she was stabbed to death. No arrests have been made

Just reading about her funeral is so sad. She sounds like such a nice lady. Five kids without their mother now thanks to a self centered monster who didn't give them a thought.

Did I understand right...some of the kids were at home when she was murdered? They must be able to identify who the killer is then. How horrible for them if that is true.

Fran - thank you for your kind words, unfortunately - the children remain with their father and the "authorities" involved just want to forget this case. Outrageous.

Oh so i just first heard of the story on 20/20 tonight and then the local news......

Unsolved Mother's Day Murder: Who Killed Stacey Burns?

The Killer of the Mother of Five Is Still on the Loose

Stacey Burns was a popular figure in the lakeside community of Wolfeboro, N.H.

"Everybody went to her house," said Fae, a close friend of Stacey's. "The door was always open to everyone, old and young."

Her large colonial house sits on the main street of Wolfeboro, a tight-knit town with a population of 6,531 people that balloons to 25,000 during the summer when tourists flock to the picture-postcard New England town.

Just reading the first articles about this case. The inaccurate reporting makes me wonder what the heck got into reporters' water. Everywhere. Link

Investigators declined to specify early on who called police except to say the caller lived at the house.

It was not known whether the caller lived at the house, or whether she was present when police arrived.
