Circumstances of Disappearance
Beard was last seen at the Excaliber Club in Freeport, Texas. She had a 2-year-old daughter and worked for a car dealership.
Paul Gayland Taylor pleaded guilty to murdering Beard in February 1995. Prosecutors were able to get an indictment against Taylor after he bragged while in prison on unrelated conviction to having killed Beard at his Clute home. Taylor showed authorities where he thought he buried Beard in a shallow grave, in a rice field just south of Angleton. The search was suspended without finding Beard's remains. Taylor, 38, was sentenced to life in prison for the murder. He also was sentenced to 25 years for solicitation of capital murder for trying to hire someone to kill a witness who was to testify in the murder case.

I was looking through some posts in the Pincess Blue forum and saw that Rebecca's daughter had posted there back in 2013! I wish we could help bring her mama home for a proper burial.

What a beauty! So sad to see her daughter posting, I wish her mother's earthly remains would be located one day.

I am Rebecca Jean Beard's daughter. Her body has never been found. Thank you all for never giving up on her and keeping her memory alive.

Details of Disappearance
Beard was last seen leaving the Excalibur Club, a nightclub in Freeport, Texas, on March 1, 1986. She has never been seen again. She was employed at a car dealership at the time of her disappearance. She left behind a two-year-old daughter. In 1994, people doing renovation work on the Excalibur found her driver's license, underneath a disc jockey booth.

In 1995, Paul Gayland Taylor Jr. pleaded guilty to Beard's murder and led authorities to a rural drainage canal in a rice bank south of Angleton, Texas. He said he had buried her body in a shallow grave on the canal bank. A search turned up only animal bones, however.

Taylor was a suspect in Beard's case from early on in the investigation, after tipsters told investigators he had bragged about killing Beard. He said he shot her to death at his home on 3rd Street in Clute, Texas. Authorities lacked sufficient evidence to file charges against Taylor until 1994. He was sentenced to life in prison for the murder. He was also sentenced to 25 years in prison for solicitation to commit capital murder; he tried to hire someone to kill a witness in Beard's case.

Foul play is suspected in Beard's disappearance due to the circumstances involved, but her body has never been recovered.

ANGLETON — The remains of 22-year-old Rebecca Beard of Freeport continue to be searched for after thirty-six years.
Texas EquuSearch has been searching for 11 days for Beard’s remains in Angleton off of FM 2004 toward Hitchcock, said Rebecca’s sister, Carol Mize.
“We are just holding on to our faith and hope that she’s found, and if she is not found now. it will lead to something bigger,” Mize said. “We’ve been handling it one day at a time.”

Bumping for Rebecca as I don’t see that her remains have been located. Anyone have an update since EquuSearch was helping in the search back in June?

poor woman... pretty young woman with a beautiful baby daughter who couldn't be with her... the only theory I can think of is that she was kidnapped by the scum who says she did it and robbed her, raped her and murdered her... I hope one day his remains will be recovered for the peace of mind of his daughter...
