Three adults and a toddler were found dead at a Kansas City, Kan. home Monday and authorities were conducting a homicide investigation, police said.
The bodies were found about 4:45 p.m. at a house on a tree-lined street in the northeast Kansas community, according to a brief news release from the police department. It was not known how the four died and names were being withheld pending notification of relatives, the release said.
Messages seeking details from the department were not returned Monday night but WDAF-TV and KSHB-TV in Kansas City, Mo., reported that the victims were a 3-year-old girl, her mother, another woman and an elderly man who owned the house. The little girl was discovered in the yard and the adults inside. (more at link)

IMO, taking people in and helping people down on their luck may have led to this. Being nice these days gets alot of people killed.

who owned the house was known for housing people down on their luck.

"He took a lot of people in, and he tried to help a lot of people out. He was a real nice man. I don't know who could have did them like this. Any of them," said the slain girl's aunt, Shenia Gutto.

Officers said two homeless people found a man and two women dead inside 5234 Muncie Drive. Outside the front door, they found the body of a 3-year-old.

Relatives said the homeowner is among the victims. He was known for his generosity taking in displaced people and those in need, including two victims: the 3-year-old and her mother.

“If they didn’t have anywhere to go, he would help them out and let them stay there,” Guetto said. “This is from what I know. He was a good man. If they needed a place to stay, he would let them stay here.”

I wonder what chain of events led to the toddler being found outside.

This is in my neck of the woods.

A house nestled in a hilly, rural-like part of Kansas City, Kan. --a known respite for people down on their luck -- was the scene of a quadruple homicide Monday.

Police were called about 4:45 p.m. to the house in the 5200 block of Muncie Drive.

Just an hour after the bodies were discovered, friends and relatives of the victims began arriving at the scene.

Shenia Gutto was one of them.

Gutto said the little girl was her first cousin but that, because of their age difference, she was more like a niece.

Another person who lived at the house called 911 after returning home and discovering something was wrong, police said.

A man who says he knows at least one of the four people found dead inside a KCK home Monday says the woman feared for her life.

The man, who approached the crime scene Tuesday, wouldn't give us his name and asked us not to show his face, but said one of the women killed asked for a good bye a few days ago.

"She said ‘Give me a hug because I don't know when I'll see you again,’" he said.

This is just horrible! God bless them all, and especially that little girl. :(

On the news they said that they caught the murderer. Sorry I don't have a link (I'm posting from my phone) but it should be on KMBC's website.

Apparently, he led the police on a chase and crashed into another car, and injured a bystander (the used the term bystander, however, they way they worded it sounded as if the car that was hit was the injured persons. I'm not sure if he/she was in or out of the car).

No motive released yet that I know of.

How sad. It must have been the man that was after the one woman who killed them all. Probably a husband or ex-boyfriend who refused to let go. I hope they did capture that man. He is headed for a DP after killing that many people.

Bless the man who owned the house and let people who had nowhere to go stay with him for awhile. I wonder how many people he has helped. He must have known that the woman was in a dangerous situation yet he let her and her little girl stay there anyway. I hope he has a beautiful funeral or memorial service. I hope the people that he has helped come and speak. He deserves that.

"Police said the possible suspect in the murder of a toddler and three adults was spotted on the east side of Kansas City, Missouri on Tuesday. When police tried to pull him over, he drove off and police chased him. During the chase, the red minivan the suspect was in collided with a blue minivan near 10th and Central, injuring one person."

A little, very little, more info at link.

The area where the house is is very rural, hardly any houses around.

A 37-year-old man was charged Thursday with murdering four people, including a 3-year-old girl whose lifeless body was found lying in the front yard of a Kansas City home.
Adrian Burks, of Kansas City, Kan., is charged with four counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of 66-year-old James Warren; 21-year-old Amanda Remmers; 41-year-old Peggy Castleberry; and her 3-year-old daughter, Juanita Castleberry-Bess. They all died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Burks was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated battery in the beating of another man hours before the slayings. He was being held at the Wyandotte County jail on $2 million bond.

From October 2012:

http://fox4kc.com/2012/10/01/kck-man-sentenced-to-life-for-quadruple-homicide/

Adrian Burks, 40, pleaded guilty to the June 22, 2009, homicide of Amanda Remmers, James Warren, Peggy Castleberry and Castleberry's 3-year-old daughter, Juanita Castleberry-Bess, in a Kansas City, Kan., home...

Three months before the quadruple murder, Burks shot and killed Cynthia Matteson's son, Johnny Lee Baer. Prosecutors, though, declined to file charges, saying Burks killed Baer in self-defense. Matteson joined the other victims families in court as the judge gave Burks four life sentences, or a minimum of 200 years.
