Doctor rescued from Antartica 1999 dies

It feels like this story happened just a couple years ago... for me anyway. It was a Canadian flight team that rescued the doctor years back, from my hometown Edmonton. I believe there was some sort of movie made about her Antartic experience as well.

Sounds like she went on to get married, travel & talk about her life & career.

I remember this. We watched the show about her rescue a few times. It was a very difficult rescue and she had to treat herself for a while didn't she?

RIP Doctor

I had breast cancer in 1998 a few months after my husband passed away. I had to read her book when it came out. It helped me to keep things in perspective: whenever I felt sorry for myself or depressed about being dealt the BC blow, I reminded myself of Jeri and her plight. She has always been a very strong, brave hero for me and her legacy lives on in her story (book & movie). Rest In Peace brave soul!
