20 July 09

The search continues tonight for a missing 83-year-old Bryan county woman. Emma Carroll has been missing for around 48 hours now. Close to one hundred people from nearly a dozen different agencies are taking part in that search. It’s concentrated along Black Bottom Road off Carroll Crossing in western Bryan county outside Pembroke. That’s where Emma Carroll is believed to have wandered away from home Saturday evening.

PEMBROKE, GA (WTOC) - Dozens turned out for a vigil in Pembroke still looking for answers in the disappearance of 83 year old Emma Carroll.

Williams, along with her brothers and sisters, Carroll's grandchildren and her friends all came together to remind everyone not to give up hope. Eighty-three year old Emma Carroll, who suffers from dementia, wandered away from her Pembroke home back in July. No one has seen or heard from her since. Some feel she's probably dead, but her family does not.

Emma Carroll

Emma Carroll, 83, who suffers from dementia, reportedly wandered from her home in Groveland on July 18 and has not been seen or heard from since. A massive air and land search by multiple agencies and volunteers turned up no clues.

The family held a vigil in October and continues to spread the word via flyers and a website (www.findingemmacarroll.com) in hopes that Carroll will be brought home safely.

Details of Disappearance
Carroll was last seen in Pembroke, Georgia on July 18, 2009. She wandered away from her home on Carroll Crossing Road and has never been heard from again.

Her daughter saw her before she left at 6:00 p.m. to go to the store. When she returned at 8:00 p.m., Carroll was nowhere to be found and the front door was open. An extensive search of the area turned up no sign of her.

Carroll wandered away from home twice before her July 2009 disappearance and was found quickly both times. She is the mother of eleven children and her family described her as a hardworking, deeply religious woman who was very involved in church activities. Foul play is not suspected in her case, but it remains unsolved.
