I have created an excel spreadsheet that indexes the PDF document.

Even though it's only halfway done (it should be finished later today), I wanted to ask some questions.

How to I post a PDF in the forum?

Since it's an excel document, some might want the actual spreadsheet.

It can be sorted by date, person, officer, badge number, etc.

With having the actual excel document, everyone can add their own notes for each page.

It makes it very easy to locate a page, cross reference, or keep notes.

How should we do this?

?

Please advise.

WOW! Thank you so much. I can't be much help on "how" you post it, but I would love to have it. I am so amazed at the great work done here on websleuths. I would give you "reps" for all that work if I could:)

Thanks, Pink.

Sadly, the link to the PDF I was working on is broken!

I stupidly did not save it onto my computer.

It's the 700 page pdf provided by weartv that had everything in one document.

I posted in the document thread about it.

If anyone saved it to their computer, I'd appreciate a copy!

Thanks For Tryin.

Too cute! Thanks for bringing a smile to my face, River Pirate!

I've decided to save the 9 pnj pdfs.

I'll edit the index to work with those documents instead of the one 700 page pdf I was using.

It will take a little extra time to make the adjustment.

Thanks, Pink.

I have the WearTV PDF on my computer. But we can only upload 4MB here, and that file is 65MB, too big to do much with.

But the 9 PNJ files are still available, so you can download them here:

Download them while you can, PNJ links disappear usually after 2 weeks to a month.

Thanks, Gene. I just down loaded the PNJ files. I'm in the process of adding document name and page number columns to correlate wtih the PNJ files.

The spreadsheet can still be used by people who have the WearTV file.

However, the WearTV page number columns will only be partial unless I can get the WearTV file to work with again.

QUESTION

Offense Report Narrative Supplements

What's the most important information I should put in the spreadsheet?

These supplements have the same Offense Report Nos.

Supplementing to different officer reports that aren't numbered differently.

Merely mentions who wrote the initial report and the date time.

(If I were in charge of police paperwork, I'd be providing document numbers for each report---that would be referenced on supplements.)

Should I bother trying to catelog all info on the excel spread sheet?

Or simply the officer name and date and offense report nos are enough?

I figured it out.

I'm almost done.

I have completed PNJ Document Nos 4 through 9

I just need to do PNJ Document Nos 1 through 3 and I'm done.

Is there a way to use Google docs to upload a spreadsheet we could all use?

If so that would be awesome. Let me go poke around a bit, and I'll come back...

Edited to add:

Here is a link to the Google Docs tour.... So far, it looks like it will work perfectly!

Upload your existing files.
Google Docs accepts most popular file formats, including DOC, XLS, ODT, ODS, RTF, CSV, PPT, etc. So go ahead and upload your existing files.

Thanks, Lossmitpro! I can't wait to try it later!

(I'm running late for an appointment right now!)

It will be awesome if it works!

Not sure if this will help... but you can upload files through posts right here..

I noticed that when you hit Reply....look under "Additional Options."
Go to "Attach files."
Click "Manage Attachments."
Note: it looks like .xls (excel files) are not supported. But if you convert it to a PDF, you can upload it as a PDF.
This will allow you to upload a document in your post.

HTH.
