Reports: 2 NC cops shot, wounded in chase
Posted: Today at 12:47 p.m.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. Two North Carolina police officers have been shot and injured after chasing a suspect on foot through a commercial area of Winston-Salem.
Multiple media reports said the officers were taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center on Wednesday. A hospital spokesman told The Associated Press he had no information about the officers.
WXII-TV reported Forsyth County Sheriff Bill Schatzman visited the hospital's emergency room and said the officers were wounded in "critical places."
Police officials did not return calls from The AP.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported Alpha Commercial Printing owner Daryl Hinshaw said he saw one officer on the ground. Hinshaw said other officers ran toward a creek, after which he heard multiple gunshots.
