Child Find hopes that keeping the face of Courtney Struble in the public eye could bring out information towards finding her.

The then-13-year old from Estevan hasn't been seen in five years. Child Find Saskatchewan president Phyllis Hallatt is keeping up hope for Struble and her family.

"They're in our prayers," Hallatt said, "and we'll continue to do the best we can to help locate her."

Vanished, but not forgotten:

The stories behind some of Saskatchewan's 95 missing people

By Barb Pacholik, Leader-Post April 24, 2009

Fifteen of the missing are adolescents and teens, aged 13 to 18, like 14-year-old Myrna Montgrand who never made it home from a party in La Loche in 1979, or 15-year-old Norman Louison who vanished walking to a house on the Cowessess First Nation in 1977, and 13-year-old Courtney Struble, last seen walking towards her residence in Estevan on July 9, 2004.

Mother of missing Estevan girl Courtney Jenelle Struble has not given up hope

very now and then — almost out of the blue — someone will contact Joy Struble with a tip about her missing daughter.

For some mothers, such tips — none of which has led to locating Struble's daughter, Courtney — would be torture on the head and heart.

But after six years waiting for word on her daughter's whereabouts, anything is welcome.

This girl has been discussed on a Canadian missing person's forum and her family members got involved in the discussion. It sounded like some people on her mother's side suspect the father and/or his wife. This would been she never went missing from the highway like reported.

I wonder whether she lived with both her parents at the time, or whether they were separated.

Without a trace

[snip]

On July 9, 2004, 13-year-old Courtney Struble left a friend's house in Estevan, Sask., between midnight and 1 a.m. but never made it to her father's home where she was visiting.

Carol Deagnon, a case worker with Child Find Saskatchewan, said the organization received a tip at the beginning of 2008 from someone who believed they spotted Struble outside the province.

While the tip was forwarded to the Estevan Police Service, Deagnon said nothing came of it.

To this day, Deagnon said the circumstances that led to Struble's disappearance are still unknown.

In a recent interview with The Mercury, Cpl. Rob Zentner said after gathering evidence and drawing on their experiences in similar cases, the HCU came to the conclusion that Courtney, who went missing shortly after midnight on July 9, 2004, met with foul play sometime after she disappeared that evening.

Thanks for that link.

Unfortunately, I do not have a lot of confidence in the RCMP here in Saskatchewan regarding missing persons. There are so many missing people who have not been found. The ones that have been found were alive. The many who haven't yet been found, I have always presumed dead.

This is just so sad to hear, that poor young girl. R.I.P

It was a Saturday morning - July 10, 2004 - when Joy Struble awoke to the news that would alter the course of her life forever. Her 13-year-old daughter, Courtney - who was staying at that time at her father's Estevan home - had gone out the evening before to watch a movie at a friend's residence, located at the veterinary clinic on the western edge of the city. Afterwards, Courtney set out to walk to her father's home.

When she was last seen about 11:30 p.m. on July 9, the hazel-eyed girl with light brown hair was said to be wearing blue jeans and a grey bunnyhug.

"The next morning, when she did not come home, her father phoned and let us know that she had not arrived back home as she was supposed to," Joy Struble recalls. "So at that point, we started looking for her and, at the time, came up with very little."

he RCMP will apply new high-tech tools to the search for clues in the decade-long disappearance of Courtney Struble of Estevan.

High-tech scanners looking for traces of decomposition below ground and even an unmanned aerial vehicle or drone will be put into the search in Estevan and area in the coming weeks...

He added that investigators do not have a suspect, but instead will go wherever evidence takes them.

On the tenth anniversary of her disappearance, Courtney Struble’s father is asking why he wasn’t included in the media update with RCMP and the girl’s mother Tuesday.

“Fine, you think I’m the suspect, but you know, I’m the father. I deserve to know as much as everybody else does,” said Mark Struble the day after speaking exclusively to News Talk Radio.

The 13-year-old girl was living with her dad when she vanished July 9, 2004.

It’s been nearly 12 years since Courtney Struble went missing, but the search for her won’t end until she is found.

Courtney was 13 years old when she vanished on July 9, 2004. She would now be 25. Her disappearance, originally classified as a missing person case, has been treated as a homicide for several years.

Child Find Saskatchewan is among those who haven’t given up hope of finding Courtney.
