CORAL SPRINGS, Florida — Two teenage brothers were home alone in their suburban neighborhood when an argument over loud music spiraled out of control, police said, leaving one brother dead from a knife to the chest and the other accused of killing him.

William Gorzynski, 15, was being held in juvenile custody on suspicion of second-degree murder in the Monday afternoon death of 14-year-old Matthew Gorzynski.

According to police in Coral Springs, about 45 miles north of Miami, Matthew was playing music on a home computer. William was watching television nearby and complained the volume was too loud. He told him to turn it down. Matthew refused. The two yelled at each other, then fought.

Then William went to the kitchen, grabbed a 7-inch knife and stabbed his brother in the upper left chest, Sgt. Joe McHugh said.

William called 911 soon after and told the dispatcher he had just stabbed his brother.

He said they "fought like every other brothers do, but they don't fight in an unusual way."

The Florida Department of Children and Families has had "prior involvement" with the family and was reviewing its investigation, but would not comment further, said spokeswoman Elisa Cramer.

What is going on in the world these days?!?

I bet they were known for not getting along & fighting viciously & one or both had well known violent tempers.This didnt come out of nowhere.IMO these two ,even with them being teenagers,shouldnt have been left unsupervised.The prior CPS involvement!

To those who find this story indicative of a worsening world, may I direct you to the tale of Cain and Abel which is found in the religious books of Islam, Judaism and Christianity. Brothers killing each other is nothing new.

Now the brother is trying to claim self defense??!! :rolls eyes: Self defense on his own brother defending himself by using a kitchen knife? That is some caca de toro if i ever heard it!

Where in the world would he get to the idea to stab his younger brother "in defense" of punching him?
These kids are violent nowadays.
IF that were my son, i'd leave him in jail or he would be in a psych hospital.

Sounds like both the boys were prone to violent behavior. One article also mentioned police smelled marijuana in the house. (i'm assuming it was their older brothers as pot usually doesn't make people violent)

The family sounds very troubled, pothead teens, at least 2 of the sons have blatant aggression, cps called before. agh!
I don't buy that self defense excuse for a second. The kid could have waited for his brother to stop and then called police. They all seem to have extreme anger issues.

A 15-year-old boy who police say fatally stabbed his younger brother in a fight over loud music has reached a deal with prosecutors and likely will be committed for up to 12 months in a juvenile offender program...

Under the deal, Schneider said, Gorzynski will receive juvenile sanctions that include up to 12 months in a juvenile offender program and supervised release possibly up to his 19th birthday.

If he doesn't re-offend during that time, the charge will remain only on his juvenile record, Schneider said.
