Investigators Seek Information in Vehicle Possibly Involved in Jessica Long Murder
Salem-News.com

(SALEM, Ore.) - The Marion County Sheriff's Office is requesting the public's help in identifying a 1980's to 1990's Chevrolet or GM full size pick-up that investigators believe may be involved in the murder of 24-year old Jessica Marie Long in Salem this week.

Commander Jason Myers with the Marion County Sheriff's Office says the pick-up is described as light in color, with a light colored canopy, and possibly having a broken side window.

Jessica Marie Long's body was found in the roadway approximately half of a mile east of State Highway 214 between Woodburn and Mt. Angel in Marion County, Oregon Wednesday night at 10:00 PM.

An autopsy was performed Thursday at the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office. Cause of death was determined to be homicide. The reported manner of death was determined to be gunshot.

It is believed that the vehicle is possibly associated to the murder of Jessica Long as these images were obtained from a surveillance video of a vehicle Jessica Long was last known to be in.

Anyone with information about this investigation (or the vehicle mentioned above) is encouraged to call the Marion County Sheriff's Office at (503) 540-8007.

Update: Woman identified as homicide victim near Mount Angel
By Michael Rollins, The Oregonian
May 22, 2008, 7:15PM

Marion County Sheriff's Office deputies found a woman's body late Wednesday north of Mount Angel.

She was identified as Jessica Marie Long, 23. An autopsy today by the state medical examiner's office determined she died of a gunshot in a homicide.

Deputies responded to a call about 10 p.m. Wednesday on Monitor-McKee Road Northeast, about a half-mile east of Oregon 214.

The sheriff's office is leading the investigation, with a team involving the Oregon State Police and the Gervais, Keizer, Mount Angel, Silverton, Stayton and Woodburn police departments.

Officers are seeking information about Long's activities in the hours and days before her killing. They also are tracking a vehicle linked to the case.

This is from four years ago. According to investigators, they have a suspect for the murder but have not been able to arrest him. Don't think there have been any updates since then.

According to Don Thompson with the Marion County Sheriff's Office, investigators had solved the crime within six months, but the suspect fled to Mexico.

He said they haven't been able to extradite Guillermo Jaime Santos-Alvarez, but have had a warrant out for his arrest since November 2008.

"We know he's in Mexico. He's connected politically to some people in Mexico who aren't being cooperative in releasing and returning him to us," Thomson said.
