Time is of the essence when individuals with Alzheimer's or other cognitive disorders wander off or become lost.

Approximately 50% of those who wander away may suffer serious injury or death if not found within 24 hours.

The National Silver Alert Program was developed to provide vital information to authorities to assist in the search and safe recovery of these individuals, and quickly reunite them with their loved ones and/or caregivers.

It seems to me she may have some cognitive disorder. Especially if she was already registered with the Silver Alert program by family, like this website suggests.

I found a screenname for her that she uses on yahoo boards and it looks as though she was very interested in horses. If she had a disorder that caused her to become disoriented, I would bet it would be natural for her to take one of the horses and go off riding. I wonder if any of the horses are missing...

Well, perhaps not. It looks like she has Shetlands. Couldn't go off riding on one of those, huh?

Oh dear -- this just showed up:

HORTON, Kan. -- Atchison County Sheriff's officials suspect foul play in the case of a woman missing since Friday.

Sheriff's officials said Patricia Kimmi, 58, of Horton, Kan., was last heard from on Friday evening and reported missing on Saturday. After the missing person report, Sheriff's officials said they found evidence of foul play at Kimmi's home.

comments posted to article here, http://www.kmbc.com/news/21555731/detail.html , says that Patricia Kimmi is her "mom's mom" & was last seen on Friday. I guess she is clarifying because the article said Patricia was last seen Saturday.

poster also says her mom reported Patricia missing & that search is still ongoing.

I haven't been able to find out anything about the ACSO's press conference that was supposed to be this afternoon.

Anybody else have any luck?

I just checked again, TexasMist, and cannot find any updates nor any indication that a press conference was held.

thanks, cleo for checking. I've been googling off & on for hours but didn't want to overlook anything.

I read where they would be searching til sundown, but that was hours ago.

Another case that's not looking good. :(

looks like they are releasing or clarifying at least-- when Patricia Kimmi was last seen

'snipped'
Patricia Kimmi, 58, was reported missing Saturday, Atchison County Sheriff John Calhoon said. He said authorities believe Kimmi was forcefully removed from her home near Horton sometime Friday

When she didn’t turn up to a shopping date with a friend Saturday or answer her cell phone, her daughter got worried.

Rita says her mother’s home was unlocked when she arrived Saturday.

"I have no words for that that,” Rita Kimmi said, “That is just evil if someone did something to her."

The Atchison County Sheriff says she was likely forced out of her home and said they are unofficially calling ‘everyone’ a suspect in the case, including her ex-husband, who has been questioned in the case, but not arrested.

Calhoon said they don't know when anyone last saw Kimmi. A Horton business surveillance camera caught Kimmi driving through town around 5:15 p.m. Friday.

this case is close to home for me... my son just played football against Horton on Saturday... am planning to call and see if they need any more volunteers to help search...

prayers for the family as this is not looking better

Updated 11:30 a.m.

<snip>

“The evidence we have we believe is going to be associated with the missing body of Patricia Kimmie,” said Sheriff John Calhoun. “Until the body is recovered there is hope she is alive.

“In the past hour, we uncovered another piece of evidence that believe that is going to support that foul play was involved,” Calhoun said just before 11 a.m. Monday. “We continue to recover evidentiary items that cause us great concern.”

Authorities in Atchison County first issued a Silver Alert for Kimmi on Saturday after friends could not reach her. However, new evidence has caused police to change Kimmi's status to missing.
Police said Kimmi lived alone and evidence in the home suggests Kimmi was taken by force and they suspect foul play. After a lab analysis of the evidence is performed, police hope to have more information regarding what happened to her.

You might want to delete that name from your post tho, it's against the TOS :)

she was divorced as well... so Kimmi could be her maiden name... (fwiw)
