Putnam County notified of missing sex offender in Marion County

http://www.ocala.com/article/20090214/ARTICLES/902141003/0/NEWS#

snip~Deputies say Chad Eugene Reynolds, 25, left his mother's home at 3 Bay Court Run in Ocklawaha on that Sunday to watch the Super Bowl at a local bar.

That was the last time anyone reported seeing him.

"We're handling it like any missing and endangered person. We're concerned for his safety because his mother said he hasn't done anything like this before," sheriff's Capt. Tommy Bibb said.

At this time, he stressed, finding Reynolds out of concern for his safety is their focus.~ end

snip~Also, in light of the search in Putnam County for missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings, Maj. Chris Blair said the Marion County Sheriff's Office has contacted the Putnam Sheriff's Office about the missing sexual predator.

According to the Florida Department of Corrections Web site, Reynolds was sentenced in Putnam County to seven years in prison for armed burglary and lewd and lascivious molestation of a child younger than 12. The offense date was Sept. 3, 2002.

He was released in November 2008 and is currently on 10 years of community supervision. ~end snip

snip~SATSUMA -- The rift between Haleigh Cummings' family members could be over for now.

The feud could be seen from day one when Haleigh's grandparents on the mother's side questioned stories the 5-year-old's father, Ronald Cummings, and his girlfriend, Misty Croslin, first gave to detectives when Haleigh vanished from her Satsuma Putnam county home.~ end

snip~On Saturday, grandmother Marie Griffis apologized. Now both sides are coming together to celebrate Haleigh's brother's birthday, and to search for the 5-year-old girl.

"We're gonna unite for Haleigh. And tomorrow is Junior's birthday. He'll be four years old," Griffis said.

More than 280 volunteers joined the dozens of law enforcement officers in the search effort Saturday.~ end snip

Dive search suspended:

snip~Putnam County investigators said they are suspending the dive search for Haleigh.

At a 4 p.m. news conference Saturday, investigators said a dive team has thoroughly searched the St. Johns River near Haleigh's home for five days and nothing related to the case has been discovered in the water. Investigators will suspend the dive operation for at least Sunday, but the air and ground searches will continue.~ end
