No death penalty sought in Durham mother's slaying

It seems like there is a de-facto moratorium on the death penalty in North Carolina anyways. I guess doctors aren't permitted by the medical board to participate in or oversee executions, but state law requires that they do... thus basically making it impossible to carry out the death penalty.

Fairness. Dignity. Respect.
So very little of the above has been afforded to the Christiansens' over the years.
Yet, the Christiansens show such class, dignity and grace under all the pain and stress they have had to endure over the years.
Doesn't seem quite fair.
