Authorities have jailed a father after a house fire killed his two young sons in southern Ohio.

Wesley Coonrod, 42, was arrested Sunday on two counts of child endangerment. Bond was set Monday at $1 million, and a public defender will be assigned.

The fire was reported about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in Greenfield, about 50 miles southwest of Columbus. Police said the boys were ages 3 and 4.

snipped from the link

"Wesley, 43, apparently moved into the home two days ago after a separate fire damaged his home in February."

Two fires that close together seem more than a bit unusual. Does anyone know the cause of the first fire?

maybe they'll upgrade the charges....IA there's something not right here - a previous fire last month, he moves into an 'all electric safe place', claims the "the fire detectors weren't hooked up right", on top of his previous record (domestic violence, aggravated menacing, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and numerous criminal damaging and OVI and DUI arrests -- mentioned in the link in 2nd post).

Sounds like the poor kids never had a chance. :(

Why did he have custody of these boys? I wonder if mom just up and left, leaving the boys with him? Or if mom had her own issues? Where were the grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins? These children should not have been living with this man to begin with. :furious:

RIP little guys,

Salem

Heartbreaking! Poor little guys! Prayers for the family of these two baby boys!

This is a tough case. Looks like he has lots of supporters who say he loved his boys very much and would have no motive to do this - along with not a lot of evidence.

Regardless, how sad for such little kids to die that way.
