Geoffrey Wilson is a support staffer at MIT's famed Media Lab, an MIT spokeswoman confirmed today. According to Media Lab postings, Wilson has worked there for the last several years and he is currently listed on the Media Lab's website as senior contracts and intellectual property manager.

Wijesinghe declined further comment, saying his grieving family needs their privacy.

2010 has not been a good year to be an infant or toddler. :(

Middlesex County prosecutors dropped a murder charge Thursday against a former MIT worker who had been accused of killing his 6-month-old son at his Malden home in 2010.

In a court filing, District Attorney Marian T. Ryan’s office wrote that the case against Geoffrey Wilson, 36, could not go forward after the state medical examiner and prosecutors received new information about the family’s medical history...

Wilson’s lawyer, J.W. Carney Jr., said in August that Nathan’s mother and grandmother have a rare genetic defect that can cause weaknesses in collagen, which would make a person more susceptible to ruptures of arteries or veins.

October 2015:

The medical examiner who reversed a homicide finding in the death of a 6-month-old Malden baby maintains in case notes that Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and her office “bullied” him to stick with the original homicide ruling, even though new evidence made that conclusion not “honest.”...

Cummings said that the DA and her staff had not wanted him to change his finding. He called the way they dealt with his office on the case “unethical and unprofessional.” He accused them of “M.E. shopping” in the hopes of getting a different opinion.
