This is a very sad conincidence
~~~~~
A state trooper responding to an accident where two people died Thursday in Choctaw County discovered one of the victims was his wife.
Billie Gilliland, wife of trooper Chuck Gilliland, was killed at 12:47 p.m. in the head-on collision. The name of the other driver killed was not available late Thursday.
Trooper Gilliland has been assigned to Choctaw County since 1988. The couple had no children, but were in the process of adopting a child. Billie Gilliland worked at the medical clinic in Butler.
"State trooper dispatchers did not know one of the victims was Billie Gilliland when her husband was sent to the accident, said Martha Earnhardt, spokeswoman for the Alabama Department of Public Safety.
"It's heartbreaking," she said.
