Moreira Monsalve was last seen at about 3 p.m. Sunday at the University of Hawaii Maui campus in Kahului. According to police, the 46-year-old was attending a meeting with her son. Following the meeting, she drove off the campus alone, but never returned to pick up her son.

Police Issue Crime Bulletin on Missing Maui Woman

Police say Mosalve was last seen at around 10 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at her ex-boyfriend’s residence in Wailuku.

The woman’s ex-boyfriend, Bernard Brown left a comment on our Maui Now Facebook page in which he describes Monsalve as his girlfriend.

According to his comments, Brown states that he went to the police station upon hearing that Moreira didn’t go to work. He also mentions that he has been cautioned about defending himself against allegations.

Police Search Dumpster at Papohaku Park
Two individuals with gloves were observed sifting through the contents of a dumpster and taking photographs.
We asked police if the activity was in relation to a widely publicized missing person report involving Moreira “Mo” Mosalve, and they declined to comment.
The police tape was eventually removed, police left the scene, and parks officials closed the park gate entrance saying the park was closed for maintenance.

More information at this fb. I don't think this will have a happy ending.

I grow super concerned when people from the mainland that are visiting/living on the island go missing.

I really hope that this isn't drawn out, and I hope it is solved.
Looks like they are dragging their feet out there, and it's pretty obvious to see what's probably happened in this case.

Prayers to her children and family.

Edit: This area of Hawaii is well known for tourism, some of the most sacred areas of Hawaii and it's personal history are actual areas they are searching for Mo. This might be why they are removing the "Missing" flyers, as crappy as that sounds (and it is).

Missing Maui woman's belongings found, investigated
Bystanders said the belongings recovered inside the dumpster included a Coach purse, found by a homeless man.
A longtime friend of Monsalve's, who declined to give her name, said the man found the purse belonging to Monsalve on Monday but only notified police on Thursday. The friend would not disclose any other details, on the advise of police.

I can't find the quote, but they said on tonight's news that she moved to Hawaii over 20 years ago. I don't think originally being from another state had anything to do with her situation.

Police are circulating a new flyer in the disappearance of a missing Maui mother of three, Moreira Monsalve.

It says she was last seen at her ex boyfriend's place in Wailuku at 10 Sunday night. Monsalve's ex boyfriend, Bernard Brown has been questioned by police, but has not been named a suspect.

We called Brown. Brown told us he has been instructed not to answer any more questions, but he has been very vocal on facebook.

Brown has been active on Maui Now's facebook page.. posting

"I'm grateful for everyone's concern and effort to locate her!- With Moreira Monsalve."

But, her friends and family paint a picture of an abusive relationship that she was trying to end.

Melissa Taylor responded, "Mo was terrified of you so stop acting like you are concerned."

Taylor also posted texts exchanged with her missing friend.

They said "he threatened to pound me and not stop. I'm so done."

and "Trying to stay hidden. I don't trust him. he's vindictive."

Brown answered "I have done nothing but try to find Moreira and I will not stop..My girlfriend is Missing!"

Mo's best friend Susan Manini fired back "stop calling her your girlfriend. She was not anymore."

Mo was Susan's maid of honor at her 2012 wedding, and says her friend was afraid of her ex. Manini said, "She just said he was abusive. I asked is he hitting you. She just shrugged her shoulders and said he's really mentally abusive."

Then, she broke down in tears and said, "I think he did something to her. I went to his house and said Bernard I'm looking for Mo and he jumped back and said I didn't do anything to her."

Mo's parents are flying from Maryland on Monday to be with their grandchildren. Her mother Helen said, 'It's a nightmare. We're so far away."

Mo's father Euclides chimed in, "I don't know this guy only seen in pictures but this is a no good guy."

Helen added, "Moreira had tried to break up with this man. She obviously went over to his house to try to pick up something and that was last anyone saw of her."

Friends and family spent the day searching from Kihei to Wailuku. They're trying to stay optimistic, but say it's unlike Moreira, a responsible single mom to take off and skip work.

http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/24549809/update-ex-boyfriend-of-missing-maui-woman-named-person-of-interest

Maui Police have officially named Bernard Brown a 'person of interest' in the case of a missing woman...

Brown is now considered a 'person of interest' for several reasons. Sources say, he refused to take a polygraph, he was the last person to see the woman alive, and he did not show up at any of the searches for Monsalve. He reportedly told police he wanted to help find her, even volunteered a helicopter, a promise he apparently did not follow through on.

Frustrating. Praying for Mo's family and friends.

She’s been missing for nearly three weeks, but friends of Moreira Monsalve aren’t giving up on finding her.

On Saturday, friends and volunteers will be searching off Stable Road in Kahului for any trace of Monsalve.

http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/24595765/maui-pd-searched-the-car-of-person-of-interest-in-missing-woman-case

Maui Police have searched the car belonging to Bernard Brown, the ex-boyfriend of Moreira 'Mo' Monsalve. Monsalve has been missing since January 12th. She was with Brown that night.

Sources tell me Brown's car was repossessed earlier this week and the bank gave Maui PD permission to search it for any evidence in the case.

It's unclear what, if anything, was found in his car.
