I can tackle it but not until tomorrow morning, so if anybody gets to it sooner, feel free.

I do think it is possible he snapped when his mother died and perhaps progressed to murder. At this point though, regardless of the obvious weapon cache, it isn't proven he killed anyone. I think it is unlikely he was involved in all the Chillicothe murders/disappearances. Different MOs, one lady was African American. Not typical serial killer behavior from what I have read. But not unheard of. I'm guessing none of our Chillicothe women's names were on his list or it would come out. At least I think it would.

Going back to the fracking thing. It is an interesting theory. Let me chime in. We are in the thick of it where I live. Our county and the ones directly north, east and west of us. The Chillicothe part of southern Ohio is on the far fringe of it. Not a lot of new hotels going up there. At least not as many as around here.

The jobs are not given to locals. The frackers we see here are from the south - Arkansas, Alabama. Working at the newspaper I have not seen any violent crimes, drug crimes, etc attributed to people from these areas. Normally, if not local, the blotter shows people from Columbus and Cleveland.

However, we did have a few years ago in the county over a man and a young boy who lured men through Craigslist in the hopes of finding jobs in - I believe - the oil & gas field. They were killed.

If there is a connection or not, i do not know. It's interesting to think about.

edited by me: The 3 men were responding to a CL ad for farmhand work I guess

Does anyone have any information about where Falls' mother was living when she died? The following Indiana case bothers me and I wonder if LE there has a description of the car, man, and knife that was used to kill this potential witness. Maybe the young man was not lying when he said he saw her get into a car with an older man.

These two Indiana disappearances, the fact they have not been found, and the shovels in Falls' vehicle concern me. I'm wondering if this guy traveled just as much as Israel Keyes. Also wondering if he progressed from victims of opportunity to seeking women out on the internet or in the drug culture for a more steady supply of victims. Would love to hear from a profiler on that question.

Police Probe Link Between Man Killed After Reportedly Assaulting Escort And Missing Ohio Women
The man's death may provide clues about six women who have died or disappeared in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Police are investigating a possible connection between a man who was allegedly killed on Saturday by an escort whom he had attempted to beat and the recent deaths and disappearances of several women in southern Ohio.

[...]
"The details that we're able to release right now are that there was a struggle ... that the man had beaten and strangled the woman and gotten her onto the ground, laid the gun down as he was dragging her back through the house, and she was able to pick the gun up and fire over her shoulder blindly, and the bullet did strike the man, killing him," Charleston Police Lt. Steve Cooper told the Charleston Gazette on Saturday.

Ohio Authorities Looking Into Any Ties Between Missing, Murdered Women And Charleston Justified Homicide
Updated: Tuesday, July 21, 2015 | Leslie A. Rubin

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Police are investigating if there could be a connection between a justified homicide in Charleston and a long list of missing and murdered women in Ohio.

On Saturday, a woman shot and killed a man who was attacking her in her home. Police say she set up a meeting with the man through a website called "Backpage" where she had offered services as an escort.

Although police are remaining tight lipped on what they know about the attacker, Eyewitness News has learned that investigators in Charleston and Chillicothe, Ohio have been in contact with each other. Some fear a serial killer has been involved with the deaths and disappearances of six women in that area.

"That interaction turned deadly very quickly. Fortunately for her, she wasn't the victim," explains Lt. Steve Cooper. Cooper believes the woman, who's name has not been released, would have been seriously hurt or murdered had she not made a split second decision to grab her attacker's gun and shoot him while he was strangling her.

[...]
"We're trying to retrace his steps and figure out as much about him as we can and as much about where he may have been in the past as we can," Cooper says.

Cops: WV Attacker May Be Linked to Unsolved Murders & Disappearances
As seen on Happening Now

Authorities are now investigating whether the man who attacked a West Virginia woman could be connected to other unsolved cases of murdered and missing women.

[...]
Cooper said that authorities found handcuffs, bleach, bulletproof vests, cutting instruments and firearms in the suspect’s vehicle. Their findings make it “likely” that Falls had been involved in similar crimes, Cooper said.
Chillicothe, Charleston Police Working To Find Links To Neal Falls And Ohio Disappearances
Updated: Thursday, July 23, 2015 | Sean DeLancey, Jarrod Clay

[...]
Police in Charleston are now working with Chillicothe police to see if there’s any connection between Falls and the cases in Ohio.

"We hope to hear immediately if that is the guy. So we don't have to worry no more,” Maggard said.

Falls died after a woman he was attacking on Charleston’s west side shot him with his own gun. In his car police found axes, body armor, a machete and knives; a virtual killing tool kit.

So far, Chillicothe police said their investigation has not turned up any link to Falls.

"It definitely fits the personality of someone that could be responsible,” Lance Shewalter said.

Neal Falls, Man Killed By Escort, Had Cache Of Weapons And List Of Prostitutes, Police Say
"I knew he was there to kill me."
David Lohr - Senior Crime Reporter, The Huffington Post

[...]
"He had a machete, shovel, two axes, a bunch of knives, a double-headed ax, a bulletproof vest, numerous sets of handcuffs, as well as the firearm used to kill him," Lt. Steve Cooper of the Charleston, West Virginia, police department, told The Huffington Post.

Police also found a list containing the names of an unspecified number of women inside the man's vehicle.

[..]
"We have been able to locate most of them and they were all on a website advertising for escort services," Cooper said. "The stuff that we found is so alarming that we want law enforcement across the country to be aware of it."

"Nearly immediately after he stepped into her apartment, he said 'live or die' and a struggle ensued," Cooper said. "[Falls] laid his gun on a counter so that he could get a firmer grip around the victim's throat with both his hands and she was able to scoop that weapon up and fire one round, killing Mr. Falls."

[...]
"We have examined as many investigation avenues as we can and have not been able to come up with much information about him," Cooper said. "It does not appear he had a residence and we've done a thorough background and the only family members that come up are either deceased or unable to be found. We've got very little information on this guy. It's almost like he was a ghost."

"We received information that caused a conversation to take place between us and law enforcement in Henderson, Nevada," Lt. Steve Cooper of the Charleston, West Virginia, police department, told The Huffington Post on Thursday.

Cooper said he couldn't discuss specific cases Nevada authorities are now looking into because the investigation "is ongoing and we don’t want to risk comprising it."

[...]
HuffPost has learned Falls lived in Henderson, Nevada, roughly 10 years ago and worked as a security guard at the Hoover Dam. Henderson is about 16 miles southeast of downtown Las Vegas.

Around that time, 22-year-old Lindsay Marie Harris, who had been working as an escort, was last seen in Henderson.

Harris' whereabouts remained a mystery until May 2008, when authorities discovered her DNA matched dismembered remains that had been found on May 23, 2005, along Interstate 55, in Divernon, Illinois, some 1,600 miles from where she disappeared.

[...]
Falls, whose last known residence was in Springfield, Oregon, spent the last seven months of his life traveling the country, authorities said. He had recently been pulled over for a traffic violation in Texas, police said.

"I Knew He Was There To Kill Me" Says Woman Who Killed Possible Serial Killer
Updated: Wednesday, July 22, 2015 | Leslie A. Rubin

[...]
"I knew he was there to kill me. I could tell that he had already done something because he said he was going to prison for a long and that's when I knew that he was going to kill me," she says. She does not wish to share her name, but she agreed to share her story.

"There's a lady in the alley here, she's saying that some guy tried to rape her and she had to defend herself and she shot him, she was in the kitchen," said a neighbor who called 911 on Saturday. You can hear the woman screaming in the background that the man had pulled a gun on her and she shot him.

[...]
"Based again on the nature of the attack and based on the items that this man had on his possession, it's hard to imagine this was only going to be a one time event for him," explains Lt. Steve Cooper.

"You could tell he was saying the exact same thing, he had it down pat. He was saying, 'you're going to be quiet, I'm gonna call the orders.' He was saying everything, you could tell he was comfortable with what he was saying," the woman says.

In the comments at the link someone posted that these women were accounted for. Joelle was being held captive by a couple and Kristy was found deceased in her vehicle at the bottom of a lake. I like your idea of looking at Indiana cases though. I still worry about what in the world happened to Lauren Spierer. :(

This is a copy of David Lohr's post #366 from the Chillicothe thread of Falls's known locations thus far.

I wish we knew where he got a traffic ticket in TX.

Thanks for the thread Bessie and thanks to David Lohr for joing us in the discussion.

I'm answering questions to the previous ones I've seen earlier:

Neals mother died Jan 15th in Oregon: http://www.anewtradition.com/obituaries/obituary/10739_Mary_Jean_Falls

If Neal met a bunch of prostitutes online, I imagine he communicated with some via his email address. I found one email address linked to him, oregonpines@msn.com. Using another technique, I found that Neal also has a yahoo email address, but cannot find out the exact address.

I also found a couple things linking Neal to Greensburg, KS. His dad also died in that town in 1995: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=113748990

I've also found other information on Neal but I'm not sure how pertinent it is, so I won't post it publicly.

Thanks for the info, 1doctor!

It is my understanding from David Lohr’s posts up thread that Neal Falls had lived at Butler, Indiana. I was curious about where exactly Butler was located at in the state of Indiana, so I looked it up on my Rand McNally Road Atlas this evening.

I found out from my road atlas that Butler, Indiana is in DeKalb County in northeastern Indiana. Butler is located 37 miles northeast of Fort Wayne and is 10 miles east of Interstate 69 on U.S. Route 6. Butler is also 4 miles west of the Indiana-Ohio border and 23 miles south of the Indiana-Michigan border.

A check with Google Maps revealed that it is 216 miles and a 3 hour 43 minutes drive from Butler, Indiana to Chillicothe, Ohio.

And Google Maps also revealed that it is 117 miles and a 2 hour drive from Chillicothe, Ohio to Charleston, West Virginia.
