Gilbert Attorney: Escort's Affidavit Implicates James Burke in GB Murders

I don't know how many are following, but I doubt many of us are surprised
We've heard or read, hints of this for years. It was only a matter of time before the truth came out. Now the question is whether or not it has to do with any of the deaths. It's certainly not out of the realm of possibility as far as I'm concerned, but I need more evidence before I can jump on that band wagon.

I think this links him to a lot of people that are involved in prostitution for sure. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that they are involved in the killings. Cover up 100% for sure!!! This is a good break for a starting point of a real investigation now.

I'm surprised none of the reporters asked her if she knew any of the victims or other "players" in this twisted mess of a case.
I was waiting for that.

She was asked, if she knew any of the victims. She said no. And I am glad, makes her a better witness IMO.

That's true, but I am stunned to see Oak Beach being put into the middle of all this. That's a huge development in my view.

I just posted this on the wrong thread but do you guys remember reading something like Michael Pak telling Gus Colleti he was trying to bring SG back to a "party"? And the fact that Shannan said "they" mannnnn and now Leanne bringing up said parties with James Burke etc. this goes deep.

From the get go I thought he might be behind it especially after they thought the person might have a LE background.

Just saw this. Even though it looks like things are happening, I thought I'd pass it along. Please forgive if this is a repeat -- I just got it from R.S. this morning....

[h=1]Why Hasn't the Long Island Serial Killer Case Been Solved?[/h] Six years since first bodies were found near remote beaches, there's still no trace of a killer

It was around dawn on a clear spring morning when Shannan Gilbert disappeared in Oak Beach, Long Island. A secluded, semi-private community at the eastern tip of a narrow barrier island, Oak Beach is a few miles from the line separating Nassau County from Suffolk. Just 35 miles from Manhattan, the town is decidedly not a tourist destination. The first thing to notice about Oak Beach is how quiet it is – even on the brightest days, there's more likely to be residents tending to their yards or their boats than splashing in the ocean.

Burke's reputation as a bully, his relationship with a prostitute and the DA's block of the FBI's help with the LISK investigation have led to murmurings in websleuth forums that Burke has something to hide in relation to the serial killer case – though most believe that any interference with FBI's involvement had less to do with LISK than the case that has since put him behind bars.

...not surprised. :shame:
Well, the reason I said IF you're going down that road, (i.e., JBu as a SK), it's telling because SK's often are impotent, or "unable to consummate" the act.

ROUGH SEX, TOP COP: Sensational claims made by escort calling herself "Leanne" that will rock the #GilgoBeach serial killer case. The unknown murderer is called #LISK. "Leanne" ties Suffolk County's former CHIEF OF POLICE, #JamesBurke, to sex and drug parties in #OakBeach. That's the last place where escort, Shannan Gilbert, was seen running from a house, screaming on a 911 call "They're trying to kill me." Leanne claims Burke threw several hundred dollars at her, after an unsuccessful sexual encounter in the summer of 2011: "He used the term I was not a 'good *advertiser censored*,'" Leanne recalled. "I know a 'god complex' when I see it, and I know a person who thinks he's above certain things." James Ford will have a "live" report at 5 pm on PIX 11.

Yes. I know. But, Burke...
Personally, I'd find it shocking, but not surprising. But then, I've followed this case so closely, for so long, that I'm jaded. There is no "bombshell" factor left for me.

ETA: ^^^ It's Hawk's fault. :D

As a local, I would be more shocked if he was completely uninvolved. Also, I just want him put away for good.

Shannan Gilbert Family Attorney Links Former Suffolk Police Commissioner James Burke to Gilgo Beach Killings

By Greg Cergol

[...]

[Gilbert family attorney] Ray said that Leanne's allegations move Burke, who is currently serving a 4-year sentence for attacking a man arrested on suspicion of breaking into his department-issued SUV, "into the circle of suspects" in the Gilgo slayings.
"I say it brings a direct connection between Burke and those poor dead victims lying along Ocean Parkway," he said

[...]

Burke's attorney, John Meringolo, said in a statement that Ray's "allegations against my client do not warrant a comment."

Ray, who has represented Gilbert's family for several years, said he would like to question Burke about the case.
He also accused Burke of trying to keep other law enforcement agencies from investigating the case.
