Belize - Faye Lin Cannon, 13, brutally slain, San Pedro, 3 July 2017 *American parents arrested*

Actually, it seems that this is one of the "happier" photos of Faye, which is incredibly depressing and disturbing. Going through AD's FB photos again I made a point of figuring out exactly when/where Faye showed up. It seems it was pretty much isolated to the late summer of 2015. As mentioned before, most of the photos where their children showed up were of the youngest and the oldest. Faye is in the least. She never looked happy.

Here are some snips from photos in AD's FB photo album:

:(

Am I the only one who can't see the pics? I'm seeing grey 'do not enter' traffic signs instead.

This whole case is so fishy. I know all people parent differently but if my 13 year old locked herself into her room and refused to come out, I'd break her door down if I had to, within a day. I would want to know what was going on that's so bad they'd refuse to come out. Unless of course you know exactly what's wrong in their life because you're causing it... then you'd probably not bother. I'd be worried sick if my child locked themselves in their room like that! Could never let it go on for three weeks.

Did they have a 5 bedroom condo where all of the girls had their own rooms? That would be one very large apartment. I don't think any of those girls could "lock themselves in their rooms" since they were likely sharing with at least one of their sisters. My guess it that it was probably a two or three bedroom apt and all the girls were crammed into one room. None of the "story" that was cooked up to explain Faye Lin's condition at the time of her death makes any sense...which usually means there is no truth to it.

I guess we'll have to wait on info trickling out from a trial but I have a feeling it's going to be a very long wait.

Arnold said his client is not a flight risk. She has sufficient ties to the country, he argued. Arnold said he spoke to Anke and the first thing that she said is that her kids are here and she wishes to be with them. He said that there are means that the court can adopt that will make a person have to stay in Belize. “I urge Your Honor to look at all the circumstances. Her kids are here and she is prepared to surrender her passport. I urge you to grant bail,” Arnold submitted.
“If Your Honor was to look at the fact sheet, you will see that it is a very disturbing set of circumstances,” DPP Vidal told the court.
“I have held US passports and the US Embassy has called me and asked me to surrender the passports to them, because it is the property of the US government,” Chief Magistrate Smith explained.
She denied both accused persons bail and the court has set August 24 as the date when disclosure of the evidence will be given to the two accused. If not complete disclosure, then at least partial disclosure will be given on that date.
The court has also set October 5 as the date when it will hold the preliminary inquiry, in San Pedro.

What made them move to Belize? Do we know?

In a published interview with International Living(I linked it earlier in the thread), DD said it was much cheaper to set up a shop there instead of Hawaii, or Florida. I agree, it would be cheaper and less competition. Plenty of tourists visit Ambergris Caye, though my impression is it's more of a 'cruisewear' crowd than the dramatic/skinny model wear she designed.

But, IMO, it's yet another example of self obsession/narcissism to take her young children so far from their adoptive father and any other extended family, and without particularly good schools or compatible playmates (I've wondered if the girls were attending private school, the father may have been paying for that).

With Tripadvisor, 50 reviews over 4-5 years is pretty thin, and the reviewers had posted other reviews, so I think they're legit. The thing about narcissists is, they're very charming. But they often designate a scapegoat, someone they can bully, to release their built-up negativity/stress. They don't actually know they're doing it, they blame the scapegoat for causing them to act that way.

Her US passport huh. I'm glad they were denied bail, because depending on how Anke gained her US citizenship, it's likely she also holds a German passport. And the US Embassy has nothing to say about that one...

Totally agree. I'm glad as well bail denied. I personally think she is a flight risk.

Thank you.

I wondered whether they relocated so there would be less chance of them getting caught abusing the children. If there was no dad or other relatives nearby there would be nothing for them to worry about.

Agreed. I figured that once their neighbor in Hawaii reported them and filed a restraining order, they figured it was time to move somewhere more isolated. I wonder if AD had full custody of the girls in the divorce. Otherwise, I think their adoptive Dad would have to give permission for them to move away. At least I think that's the case in some states. But I don't know for sure and I don't know the timeline of the divorce and remarriage.

I believe she used these girls. How can it be love when Fay was locked away for 3 months. Wonder what the girls would say, maybe Anke locked her away. The hell and suffering Faye must have gone through.

I wonder when the last time was that anyone outside the immediate family saw Faye Lin.
I wonder when the last time was that her bio dad saw her. (His lawyer avoided answering that question when it was put to her, but just says he visits as often as he can.)

If, as the medical examiner observed, FLC had fresh injuries, old injuries, and all of them significant injuries, (as quoted by DPP Vidal in the news) how did they keep these injuries hidden? By the parents' admission, Faye Lin "locked herself in her room for the past 3 weeks". When was the last time FLC was seen at the store? Did any of the neighbours see her around the Grand Caribe complex? Were any of the other daughters out of sight recently as well?

Was anyone seen regularly or recently visiting the family home? Who did they associate with? When was the last time anyone was in their home?

Sorry...there are just so many questions in my mind as I think about those poor girls.

In the following news video, the Doehms are seen heading into court. As Anke walks by, someone (presumably from the media) asks her "did you kill your daughter?" or "what happened to your daughter?" She cries and seems to say "I don't know". I couldn't hear the exact question or her reply well at all because of the voice over by the TV reporter. Can anyone else figure out what was asked and what the response was? They replay the clip a couple of times during the video.

She looks downcast and remorseful and he looks like it's just another day.

It doesn't mean anything really, because I've analyzed behavior ad nauseum, and I'm not sure I ever really get anywhere with these evil types.

Exactly. They relocated because their Hawaiian neighbors had restraining orders against them and were reporting them to child services - years ago. The girls didn't go to school there either, I don't think.

Wtf were doing with and to those girls?

It makes me sick. [emoji35]

I suggest everyone following Faye Lin's case watch that 6 minute video of them. You will hear among other things, the Prosecutor say :

- We don't very often see this level of criminality

- The observation section of the post-mortem read like a horror story

- There were fresh injuries, old injuries and all of them severe. Both accused admitted they were aware of them.

I know, it's very hard to analyze people like this. She does look downcast and remorseful...or sad about her whole narcissistic world collapsing. He looks like this is a walk in the park by himself, enjoying the scenery. I noticed AD has "distancing" body language from DD...arms crossed, never looks at him, acts as if he isn't there. You'd think they'd be clinging to each other (if allowed) or at least seem like a couple. I think she is going to throw him under the bus and claim to be an abuse victim herself.

Yeah, it's gonna be interesting. On the one hand, if a sexual abuse charge is eventually brought it most likely will fall on DD's head so AD would be wise to distance herself from him. I agree that if that happens she'll toss him under the bus like a discarded gum wrapper.

OTOH, something that crossed my mind after reading about them "treating" Faye Lin with a "Japanese healing technique," along with doses of Valium (figure out that combination) is that she/they may claim the chest compression was part of some therapy for children with behavior problems. Something like restraining Faye Lin during an episode of self- or other-harming where her ribs "accidentally" got cracked.

I don't believe that for one minute, especially since there is no documented evidence so far that Faye Lin had emotional or mental problems, I'm just saying they could come up with a doozy of a defense, in which case they would IMO close ranks.

I think a lot will hinge on what the other girls share during their interviews - hopefully with a trained specialist. With the parents in jail they may feel comfortable enough to tell what went on in the house.

I'm still not clear on how many times DC had visits with the girls after the divorce - the attorney was kind of vague. DD appears to have the finances to pay for trips, either to Belize or to fly them to his home. He may make a public statement at some point, depending on his legal advice.

Next dates up are August and October. Maybe we'll learn more before then. I hope they don't get bail in the meantime, but at least the girls are safe from these nasty people.

I wonder if the "Japanese healing technique" was Reiki? She listed herself as a certified practitioner in the deleted bio I posted in post #12. The Belizian authorities probably had to look up what it was. Not compatible with valium, for sure.

It is possible that the chest compression injuries and broken ribs are from attempted CPR.
