Found Deceased MS - Susie Lanier, 43, Iuka, 6 June 2017 *Arrest*

RIP Susie :rose:

Now, what happened!?! :scared:

Hopefully they can find the rest of the remains to help with that. Hate for a murderer to get away.

Lanier was last seen around the County Road 255 area east of Iuka. The skull was located in a homeowner's yard along County Road 247, about a mile away from Lanier's home. Officials said it appeared that the man’s dogs had discovered the skull and brought it back to his property near Highway 172.

"We searched all the woods between where she lived and where the dogs brought it," said Tishomingo County sheriff John Daugherty. "We haven't found anything else but we will continue looking and running down leads."
"They said the skull was in perfect condition. There was no sign of blunt force trauma or anything else to give us an idea of how she died," Daugherty said.

I think she must be close to home. I wonder if the skull showed signs of having been buried or if it was clean? If not buried, it might not be foul play. She might have gone for a walk near her home and had an accident, gotten lost in the woods, or had a medical event. :(

I heard some mildly interesting things on the radio this morning, but I can't find it in print.

More bones have been discovered, but they're not sure if they are animal or human.

The located thread for this is here:

The link to the story about finding more bones no longer works but I know her family and a searcher found more bones. When the police were not helpful in recovering evidence, WTVA was called by the searcher to gain attention.

Russell Leon Lanier was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder in Susie Rena Lanier’s death. She was 43 when she was reported missing from a mobile home park in Iuka in June 2017. Her husband and step-father reported her missing.

A Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Office statement says they received a call regarding a man finding what appeared to be a human skull on his property. The skull was later positively identified as Susie Lanier’s. Clothing possibly worn by her was also found. No other human remains were located.
