OK OK - Sandy Pathresa Rea, 17, Shawnee, 19 Sept 1984

The more and more I think about it, the more I think the McLeod's are involved. I did a little digging and I found out that the McLeods owned other businesses as well, including the Shawnee Motel. Based on this court case [1], it appears the McLeods owned Shawnee Motel, which is no longer around. In its place is now McLeod's Storage[2], which I assume they own based on the name. I wonder what else the McLeod's owned. Did they own land somewhere?

After evaluating a map, I think Sandy could have easily walked to the Shawnee Motel. It was right down the street [3]. The pawn shop is about a full mile away [4]. While she could have walked there, She could have easily been picked up by DM.

I definitely think it is more than a coincidence that the basement of McLeod's pawn shop was filled a few days after her disappearance. I think the basement was filled to either 1) hide a body or 2) cover up a murder scene. There could have been a fight there and a subsequent murder (either accidental or intentional). If this is where the body was hid, it must have been moved sometime in the interim as the GPR test done below the building did not yield any results. As far as the location of the body, I'm guessing that it was hidden somewhere on one of McLeod's properties, but not sure which one.

Just a thought:

Did JLL ever get convicted of Cynthia Terry's death? I never heard what the outcome of that case was. I ask because I can see court records of him later on[1][2], suggesting that he was not in prison. I also found a department of corrections profile for Josh and it only has his sentence from his previous burglary arrest[3]. If he was indeed, not convicted, it is all plausible that he, or someone within his social network (aka 'suits'), could have been involved in Sandy's disappearance.

Although I can't confirm ancestory.com's validity, I was able to find a report on said site that he passed away in 1999[4]. I also remember reading several previous articles about Sandy's disappearance and I remember some of them stating "several people involved, or knew what happened to Sandy, have since passed away." This obviously related to Honeycutt and Mr. Wells, but it could also relate to JLL or another suit member.

This could be her. Jane Doe 369ufms found in Olive Branch,Mississippi 5'2"to5'4" 105-115lbs Dark blonde to strawberry blonde or light red hair and freckles. The teeth look really close in the post-mortem photos. http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/369ufms.html

This definitely looks like a possibility, but the one stat that makes me doubt the match is the "estimated date of death", which is hours prior. This would imply that she died in January 1985. Sandy disappeared in September 1984. There is a 3 month gap in between.

"Where is Sandy Rea? New detective takes the case"

http://www.reddirtreport.com/oklahoma-mysteries/where-sandy-rea-new-detective-takes-case

A new Shawnee detective has been assigned the Sandy Rea case.

Det. Ron Wilson is optimistic that the disappearance of Sandy Rea, a 17 year-old-girl who vanished from a Shawnee bowling alley more than 30 years ago, can still be solved.

“It’s going to be really difficult after the amount of time that’s gone by,” said Wilson, “but I think we can figure out who’s responsible, whether we find a body or get a confession.”

“We know she was at the bowling alley and she was going to a party. We know she was waiting for someone to pick her up. She’s not going to get a ride from a stranger, so if an attorney or someone with those parties tried to pick her up, she’s not going to go with them. Her step dad, the accusations, she’s not going to go with him. She’s waiting for someone to get her. If there wasn’t someone, she would have walked on home or walked to the party,” said Wilson.

Johnny Price, who is Sandy’s cousin and head of the family’s inquires, said he believes Phillips knows what happened to her. Carol Wells told Price and Red Dirt that Phillips opened up about the case in his office one day.

Price said, “He told Carol, ‘There’s things about this case I will never be able to tell you. All I can tell you is that your daughter will never be found.’ Why would you say that unless you knew something?”

Carl Koppelman was asked by the family of Ms. Rea to create an age progression photo. I have embedded the artists's rendering (click to make it larger). Here is his message from Facebook:

Carl Koppelman, California State University, Long Beach · December 25 at 1:26pm:
"I was asked by a friend of the family of Sandy Pathresa Rea to do an age progression of how Sandy might look next year at age 50. According to CharleyProject.org Sandy was last seen in Shawnee Oklahoma on September 19, 1984. . She planned to walk to a convenience store near Highland Street and Bryan Road to purchase cigarettes. A group of her friends passed and gave her a ride to the Windsor Bowling Alley, where her cousin was employed Her cousin told authorities that she asked him for a ride, but he was unsble to leave work at the time. Sandy's cousin said that she placed several telephone calls from the alley shortly afterwards, asking various people for a ride. She walked away from the business with an unidentified individual at approximately 9:00 p.m. Sandy has never been heard from again. 31 years after she was last seen, Sandy Rea is still MISSING."

She walked away from the business with an unidentified individual at approximately 9:00 p.m.

I'm curious about this quote right here. When it says 'unidentified', does it mean that they saw the person she left with, but didn't know his or her name or does it mean that they are not sure who she left with.

What was the description of this unidentified individual? Is it even known if they were male or female?

I don't remember seeing any reference to an unidentified individual until I came across this page. At the bottom the page history indicates that it was last updated Nov 2013 with details about the disappearance.

This is a pretty big long shot, but I figured I would bring it up. He had a house at twin lakes and he has been in Shawnee for over 25 years. If he was in Shawnee in September 1984, could he have had something to due with Sandy's disappearance. Probably unlikely, but Sandy was rumored to be at a party near Twin Lakes the night she disappeared.

Because of the nature of those 1980s allegations, Booth said his office is investigating whether there could be any possible victims in Oklahoma. Authorities even served a search warrant at Big Eagle's home near Shawnee Twin Lakes on Wednesday, where Booth said they seized a computer as part of the investigation

I went by the old Mcleod's pawn shop today when I was in Shawnee. It is now boarded up. It looks like there is some activity going on as their is a sign in the front indicating that video surveillance is now active. There is now indication of Mcleod's pawn shop anywhere on the building.

Attached are a few photos of the place.IMAG2889.jpgIMAG2890.jpgIMAG2891.jpgIMAG2892.jpgIMAG2893.jpg

Skeletal remains found right outside of Shawnee in an area known as 'Harjo'. Detectives believe it may solve a missing persons case back from 1988 of Kenneth Lester Spencer. The remains were found about 1/4 of a mile from his house. According to the article, it may take a while to ID the remains. Its a long shot, but any time skeletal remains are found in the greater Shawnee area, I have to check to see if it could be Sandy.

Unsolved Shawnee case: Sandy Rea still missing after 33 years

http://www.news-star.com/news/20170918/unsolved-shawnee-case-sandy-rea-still-missing-after-33-years

Sandy’s disappearance remains an open missing persons case with the Shawnee Police Department, but her family also hasn’t given up searching for Sandy — and the truth — on their own.

Her cousin, Johnny Price, made a vow five years ago that he would find Sandy. He has since dedicated his life to the search and said he intends to keep that promise to his family, no matter how long it takes.

Price, who said the family’s efforts have uncovered countless stories and possible scenarios, said the family feels certain they are looking for Sandy’s remains after all these years, but they still need that closure. He said Sandy’s mother, who conducted countless searches of her own over the years, needs to know what happened to her daughter and give her a proper burial.

I live in Shawnee and asked my parents for their thoughts on this case.

They said that it's probable that someone abducted her and killed her...like pretty much every missing person case.
