JJ, I am sure you know best. I have no legal experience, as you know, just gut feelings.

I guess B doesn't want to allow time for Galloway to cross examine Dr O and the money is a red herring. I really do think, at this stage in the proceedings, and given that B and C have made a killing from this case, that they should see it through. If they opt out it says to me that the problem is more than just the money.

I do think winning this case seems to be more an ego trip for B and C rather than a giving the accused a fair defence. I see B as being prepared to be less than honest in order to get a murderer off the hook; much like Roux did in the OP case. To me that is unacceptable. Of course, I view this as a bystander with no depth of legal knowledge whereas you do have a great deal of expertise to rely on.

O/T: I have been following another SA trial going on about a prominent businessman and real estate mogul, Jason Rohde. He has been charged with the murder of his wife, Susan, 45. She was found hanged in the bathroom of their hotel room at the Spier Wine Estate in Stellenbosch on July 24. The couple had been attending Sotheby’s annual conference.

Her death was initially thought to be a suicide, but a post mortem found foul play may have been involved. Reggie Perumal is involved in the case.

Hi Apples. Prime and I have also been following this trial and she's going to open a new thread for it. In the meantime, I'll collect all the tweets from court and will post them across when the thread is open. Yesterday (Day 2) was quite an eye opener. I hope you and others here will join in.

Posting the tweets from 3 simultaneous trials may be a bit challenging, but we'll get it done.

That's great. We have a lovely group of members here and SA time seems to suit the Aussies and the Brits. I hope others join in too. Meanwhile, Apples' links will give everyone a chance to familiarise themselves with the story. It's fascinating. I loved reading the pathologist's testimony. He certainly had very harsh words to say about Reggie Perumal.

I read somewhere today that Perumal actually has been accused of misleading the court. If that were to be true it could spell trouble for the HvB trial.

I would really love to know a reason for this, if only an expert could give examples of why or how this didn't occur besides there was another axe.

I'm here L2L, but only to check if anything is happening. I'll be posting tweets in the Rohde trial and Prime will be doing CP and HvB. So far though, none of them have started.

Prime and I have decided to work on a rotational basis, so tomorrow I'll be here.

Prime, if you're lurking here, CP is moving to another court and they won't be starting until 11.15. The mistress is supposed to be taking the stand. She has friends and family in court now.

ETA. I've just added the above info to the CP thread in case someone goes there.

Olckers: the document is written by me, parts discussed with counsel, but these are my "own words"

Olckers: I wrote the report "within their mandate", Judge Desai asks what the witness means by this

J Desai: did you change or amend your report in any way after discussing it with counsel? Olckers: No

Olckers: I sent a draft report to counsel, then correct errors

Olckers: final report was done after Col. Otto testified

J Desai: were you aware of testimony of other experts when you drafted report? Olckers: Yes
