That's what I was thinking. If you have a child who wets the bed on a a regular basis, why wouldn't you put on a pull-up so you didn't have to change everything every night. If she did have a bed wetting problem, maybe not waking her up at all hours of the night to make her drink protein shakes (or whatever the heck they claim they were giving her) would have helped.

My guess, as far as the laundry goes, is that if he did do laundry, it was his own clothes that got dirty from taking her body to that nasty culvert to dispose of her and perhaps some kind of fluid on his clothes from her (milk, vomit, etc.)

Where the heck are the toxicology reports? From what I've read, the initial screening takes about 2 weeks to see if any drugs are present and if further testing to determine the type of drug and the amount is needed, another 2 weeks. From his description of watching her breathing slow down, she may have been overdosed on some kind of sedative. Of course he lies so who knows if that part of his story is even true.
BBM

Just for reference as a jumping off spot in the Kenneka Jenkins case her body was found on September 10th and in depth toxicology reports were back and the cause of death was complete October 7th. (27 days if my math is correct) I realize there were no similarities bewteen these cases and the time is dependent on what lab LE chose to use but it should give us a rough estimate of what to expect.

Sherin was found October 22nd so around the 18th of November would be a good estimate with all things being equal. Dallas County Medical Examiner boasts it’s lab facilities but I don’t have a clue what their backlog is in toxicology testing and with the FBI involvement the FBI lab even with the volume of testing usually comes back a little faster than some private labs.

How long does it take get forensic toxicology test results?

Many popular “crime scene investigation” television programs are able to complete toxicology reports in a very short (and unrealistic) time frame. However, in reality, while an autopsy is usually completed within a day or two after a death, the final results of the toxicology report may take four to six weeks or longer.

Many factors play into the length of time needed to gather forensic toxicology test results, including:

  • the need for confirmatory testing
  • the complexity of and the number of specific tests required
  • case workload and staffing at the testing laboratory
Additionally, once toxicology results are available, there is an internal review process for quality control, and experts such as board-certified pathologists and toxicologists may be consulted. The final toxicology report may incorporate other information, such as field evidence at the scene of the crime, or the possibility of fatal drug interactions, to determine the cause of death. Finally, before the results of the toxicology test and cause of death can be made public, the family must be notified.

I recall reading here upthread that Sherin's COD etc. could take up to 90 days to complete. I think it could be a while yet before we hear anything. Some testing takes weeks or months to complete depending what testing is being done.

I can't help but wonder if with the new affidavit if ANY of the original is supposed to be true anymore. Did he just switch from the tree to the garage or did he also remove the portions about laundry and and 3 am etc? I assume the 4-5am is still applicable as that was info they did not get from him. Just wondering whether we are supposed to discount statement one entirely. I doubt LE have but it will depend what story the evidence is telling...

JMO and wondering if anyone has seen more on this!?

I would think that the current charges are what is relevant right now unless the COD, and tox screening etc. shows something else that Sherin died from. And if that is the case they will then be able to charge with murder.
I don't think if any of the initial charges are factored in it will be because his first story was true, but gross negligence for not calling for help for Sherin when he thought she was dying/deceased is also IMO a serious form of negligence as well. I guess we will have to wait and see.

I would think that if any of the first story is true, like leaving her at the tree in the dark would come in during trial and sentencing to show just how cruel and abusive this SOB was before he decided to murder her, IMO.

Personally, I believe he caused her death and removed her body from the house, but everything else he said is a lie. No one, and I mean no one, watches a child choke without calling for help, except a person who wants that child to die.

And there is a nurse who works in a pediatrics, sleeping in the next room? Your child is choking to death and you don't wake up the sleeping nurse, who knows what to do to try and save the baby?

Agree. He has already established himself as a liar. I don't believe anything related to his rendition other than he was with the child in the garage at 3am. A grown man with a toddler (now deceased), in a garage at 3am does not create a very innocent portrayal.

And nothing about this rings true either....nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Maria Guerrero posted a little update this evening:

Just checking in to tell you there are no big developments in Sherin Mathews' death. At least nothing being released to the public.
The investigation is ongoing.
The 3-year-old's adoptive father, Wesley Mathews, is still in jail on $1 million bond. He declined a court appointed attorney & an individual attorney name has not been filed.
Sini Mathews has not come forward, as Richardson police have asked, to talk with detectives about what happened to Sherin.
Sini has never been charged with anything in this case.
I just checked with the medical examiner's office and the autopsy (cause of death) is still pending. Like I said in October, it can take several weeks. Toxicology tests were also done (standard).
I will keep searching for answers and will report back to you asap.

Maria GuerreroUPDATE at 9:40pm:
Attorney Rafael de la Garza of Plano got back to me. He says he *does represent Wesley Mathews in this criminal case.

There is a small chance that Sherin had night terrors.
https://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/night-terrors#2-6

My 2 year old has night terrors, they are horrible but we would never take him out of the house or be upset with him during one. My husband and I both work full time but whoever hears him first just gets up and goes and lays down with him or brings him in our bed. After a little bit he stops screaming and goes back to sleep. It's sad to watch them but he doesn't really wake up during them or remember them.

I don't believe the garage story.

While Maria Guerrero in a follow-up comment rightly states : "Trust me. I'm checking with police, checking online, checking anywhere I can for answers. I just don't post to post. I don't think that helps in a case where so much information out there is false and unfounded" , she is blurring the facts regarding SM's interaction with RPD just stating "Sini Mathews has not come forward, as Richardson police have asked, to talk with detectives about what happened to Sherin. Sini has never been charged with anything in this case. "

It has been reported that " Mrs. Mathews talked to the police at length that morning at her home, then went to the station that evening for further interviews. She voluntarily went back to the station a few days later, and was interrogated for hours by several officers with no attorney present."

No arraignment hearing scheduled?? Would they be waiting for COD?

TIA!

Generally speaking, if the autopsy itself had shown an obvious sign of death, would they wait for toxicology to come back before noting an official cause? I know this is a high profile case so they may just be extra cautious. But it seems to me that if the cause of death is obvious they still do tox and other tests just to make sure nothing else was at play, but they will rule COD based on the body itself if its possible. Example, a gun shot wound to the head. They would know the cause of death and manner of death and would announce that, but would also check to see if drugs or alcohol were involved. So just wondering if Sherin's body maybe didn't give much of a story on autopsy alone? JMO

BBM - I believe this is the case.

Personally, I don't believe night terrors have anything to do with why Sherin was in the garage at 3am. I am not even sure that is where she died since her father has provided so many narratives (lies) about events that night. But I will say - there was a young sibling in the home and having had a child who suffered from night terrors - I did I could to keep the night terror child from waking and disrupting the sleeping sibling.

That said, no evidence of night terrors and no earthly explanation in my mind for Sherin to be force fed a protein shake type thing at 3am in a garage.

:cow: we will never know the full story and it is probably way worse than the cockamamie one(s) we've heard thus far.
