So, the two went to the store together and bought the shovel, then went to eat. Then DE dropped her (NK) off at her dorm and he went alone to Walmart?

I don't think so, because there's definitely video of the two together at Walmart on the 27th at around 8:05 p.m.

It's a little confusing to me because they started with evidence of the 27th, then showed video and testimony from the 26th, so not presenting in order leading up the murder is a little strange to me.

Doesn't she look cute while prepping to murder a child.

jmo

She absolutely does (gross to say). And thank God she apparently blabbered about buying a shovel to the authorities, because she looks like a completely different girl on this video. It's like she shed 15 lbs. overnight.

Okay, thanks!

What is the order of events?

From what has been tweeted so far, it looks like they went to the Christiansburg Walmart first, then to the restaurant, then to NK's dorm. That's the way I'm reading it FWIW.

11: 00 a.m.:

Officer Austin Sumners from the Virginia Tech Police Department is called to give testimony. He was called to an overflow parking lot on campus to do a search in connection to the missing persons search. He looked in a dumpster and saw a blue plastic glove with yellow residue on it. He also looked through a blue dumpster with a plastic Walmart bag with a bleach bottle inside.

Tony Anderson, Eisenhauer’s attorney, begins asking Sumners questions.

This may explain the Walmarts:

Twigger identified both in photos at the Christiansburg Walmart on January 26, then later at Cook-Out in Blacksburg. They were again identified in surveillance photos purchasing cleaning supplies at the Walmart in Wytheville the next day.

That explains the two different outfits NK is wearing in the picture at the link above (Jeans and boots, then skirt).

I think there is something to the two sets of NK's boots...just don't know what. If you remember, in her booking video she had on the longer set (just below her knee). Are these the boots she had on when they moved the body? She obviously went by her dorm room as she stashed the items in the suitcase, so she must have cleaned up there before she was found at her boyfriends place...was this ever confirmed?

11:15 a.m.:

Officer Jason Brooks is on the stand now, saying he joined Officer Austin Sumners searching through dumpsters in an overflow parking lot on the Virginia Tech campus. When he arrived the bleach bottle was already out of the dumpster. Brooks removed bubble wrap and cleaning wipes with a reddish stain on them.

And that shovel purchase in the cute outfit was the day BEFORE the murder? Then the next day (day of the murder), she is wearing the bigger boots?

Sorry to be dense...the timeline is muddled in my mind and driving me nuts.

Yes, she was wearing knee boots in the photo from 27 Jan, assume at the Wytheville Walmart. That would have been the boots worn when they moved her body. If they were taken into evidence in her dorm room, would she have been wearing them in the booking photo?

Perhaps the defense is trying to indicate the short boots she wore the evening of the murder were the ones with blood on them? That would have put her at the scene of the murder.

I think it may be:

They went to the Christiansburg Walmart on January 26, bought the shovel, then later went to Cook-Out in Blacksburg. She's wearing a skirt.

Next day, Walmart in Wytheville for cleaning supplies, NK wearing jeans and boots.

Maybe she had another pair of knee boots?

Here's the booking video. Looks like the same boots.

Yes, looks the same. They have that sort of split cuff at the top that folds down.

ETA: If she was wearing those when they moved NL's body, they would have had to get blood on them. I don't see how she could have avoided that. If she were present at the murder scene the night before, both boots would have had blood evidence on them. Unless she was lucky.

One of the reporter tweets says an investigator on the stand was shown a photo of some boots with salt stains on them and asked if they were the boots taken into evidence. Which ones were they?
