LE agencies seem to believe BG is local to 30-40 miles. Here are my thoughts:

Carrol County and the 5 surrounding counties (White,Tippecanoe,Howard, Clinton,Cass) have a combined population of 377,000.
Half the population are women, so that leaves approximately186,000 males.
Those counties particular are almost entirely white so no subtraction for other races. The proportion of males age 30-65 is about 36% so that means .36 x 186000.

There are about 67,000 men in those counties in the 30-65 age range.

http://www.stats.indiana.edu/populat...-estimates.asp
https://suburbanstats.org/population...ive-in-indiana

67,000 men to sort through.

Exclusion = bald men, black haired men, blonde men, men shorter or taller than the 5'6" to 5'10 description. Men with verifable alibis: at work, incarcerated, a prohibitive disability, away in the military.
This would bring the number down quite a bit.

Then another working preliminary filter that could also be applied that BG is not a recent felon (he would have DNA on filer.)

Inclusion = Men off work that day. Men with unverifiable alibi.

I also think that a voluntary DNA test for the willing citizens in those counties to create a database for the single purpose of solving this crime would lead to an arrest.
The single use database created could be destroyed after its purpose was achieved.

If they have DNA .. then there is hope they will catch the guy. What Boxer says reminds me of an old case in the UK when they first started using DNA to exclude guys in Leicestershire in the murders of Linda Mann and Dawn Ashworth. I was a teenager in Derbyshire that is very close to Leicestershire - the fear in the community over the murders .. the heartache of the families of Linda and Dawn. They got the guy in the end.

Our threads we complain about lack information released etc but to me if the police have the DNA profile they will never stop until they get him.

If someone knew who he was surely they could anonymously tip off without fear of repercussions as BG will get life when/if they catch him?

I legitimately don’t think anyone knows. And the person who could (which I don’t think they would even realize) put it together most likely doesn’t know about this case. Moo

Libby’s dad trying to track them down.

“He got there and nobody was there. He ran into a guy and he was coming from the bridge. He said ‘did you happen to see two girls up there?’ He said ‘no I did not.’ By 4 p.m. it was like ‘oh man,’” said Patty.

I apologize if I am not posting this correctly. I came across this news article and didn't know if it had been posted yet. I hadn't seen it before, and wonder if the man Derrick saw was BG.

Thank you for finding this. From your link:

"“He saw something. He could not figure out what it was. There were two deer standing up there. As he looked up to see what it was, that is when he saw them,” said Libby’s grandma, Becky Patty.

It was a volunteer searcher who discovered the bodies of the Delphi teens, lying in the grass between a group of trees deep in the woods.

“He called his wife who was with us and said we found them. My sister came up and she was crying and she said I’m so sorry,” said Patty."

IIRC LE said they were able to find and talk to everyone seen on the trail that day except the man in the picture on the bridge BG. So I hope that they would never miss anything that major!

1. Probably
2. Used to be/has or had ties to the area
3. 35-55
4. Planned, may not necessarily have been specifically targeting Abby and Libby, but was definitely at the trails for a victim.

These are my thoughts, too.

Re: Liberty's phone. I think she threw it as far as she could at the end , into weeds and he didn't exactly have all day to go find it. He needed to leave asap before someone saw him. Also, he may not have wanted to take it with him... Think about it..if you had just committed a heinous crime, would you want to risk the victims phone being tracked to your location? He had to know people would be looking for the girls soon and certainly anyone know phones can be pinged and tracked . I know I wouldn't want to lead the cops to me if I were in such a position. Also LE stated in (Holemans 30 min interview ) that they found the phone in " the vicinity of their bodies" . I think Libby chucked it into the coverage of nature thinking he may smash her evidence...
I remember early in the investigation someone posted an article about how totally damaged a phone can be yet still be partially rebuilt and accessed. They discussed phones that were broken, shot, and retrieved from water. So it's possible BG destroyed it or threw it in the creek but that was not enough. I think it's wise to say that BG wouldn't have just taken it.

To me it's so huge that the sgt. said, "of the people we have talked to at this time we feel confident there was no involvement." This is important because someone cannot hide behind a false assumption such as someone in the initial search group did this. Or someone related to the girls did this. Police have cleared those they have talked to and someone who knows something will have to face the truth or find something else to hide behind. It could provide a break in the case.

Not sure if this has been posted here but WLFI had a 30 minute feature today and now it is posted online. Very interesting and well done, in my opinion.

Justice for Abby and Libby

Posting all your links in the media thread, thanks.

If one day a cold case investigator(s) happens to find us, I hope they will consider the media thread a helpful quick link resource, etc (as well as our amazing sleuthing lol)

Eta: See you already posted it there. Thanks and sorry I got grumpy, serious business here!!

Eta: Remember all those sleepless nights folks? Nightmares we all had?? The only time I've ever been so creeped out and felt such darkness was when Jessica Ridgeway's killer was still on the streets...

IT IS NOT OVER UNFORTUNATELY. My best hope is that he is presently incarcerated for another crime, and somehow that will come to light.

Eta: So yeah. 365 days later...

Who is BG??!!!!

Who is next?

Eta: Houston we have a serious problem.

Marking my spot

We need to pull up all murders in the past year (and keep looking at past, of course....) Yep needle in a haystack.

Arson, burglary, Flora....

New tips, new subpoenas in new year of hunting for Delphi killer

"In the last month, FOX59 Investigates has learned law enforcement served multiple new subpoenas."

"FOX59 Investigates also asked whether the killer fled in a vehicle or did he simply walk away?

Carter answered, "Um, likely. Walked a certain distance, yes. We don't have any indication that he was close by where he parked a vehicle, because we don't have any information on a vehicle."
