MO MO - Christina Whittaker, 21, Hannibal, 13 Nov 2009

From a news article posted above.

“'She was upset,” Taylor recalled. “She had no coat on. She seemed to be shook up.”' Taylor said Whittaker looked over her shoulder several times as if someone was watching her."

From one of the members, also posted above
"...what do you think of all of this? It sounds to me as tho someone else is in control of her & she's frightened."

(Sorry, I'm not real good at working the quote feature yet.)

After learning she had prescription meds and reading about her reaction, I HIGHLY suspect some sort of chemical imbalance or possible withdrawal symptoms from a cold turkey off of anti anti-anxiety meds. I've witnessed both in the past, and I'm telling ya, it ain't pretty!

If that was indeed her, then she's out there likely alone in a strange place, no car, no phone, probably walking or hitchhiking with likely dwindling funds. It's been nearly a month since she was last seen. The chances of her having run out of her meds are extremely high. Depending on what she's on, the side effects of stopping her meds suddenly could definitely cause paranoia, increased anxiety, hallucinations, increased sensitivity to sound and/or light, nightmares, physical pain... the list goes on.

The above is just a theory, but it makes so much sense. To me anyway. I hope she is found soon! She's could be going through some severe mental terror and I fear for her safety. If she's not thinking logically, the lack of her meds (depending on what kind) might propel her to do something dangerous. Please hang in there Christina!!

Sorry for the triple post, but does anyone know if the videos above state what kind of meds she's on? My stupid computer has been timing out when I try to view videos. I think it's a glitch from the last update and just needs restored to an earlier date, but I'd rather my husband do it. If no one knows that's okay, I can view it on the desktop tomorrow.

WAIT! Editing to update. Disregard the above paragraph, I found it in an article. (Source below.) Bipolar meds! Dang, chemical imbalance. I nailed it! My dad and my best friend are also Bipolar. Lamictal is the most common but Depakote and Tegretol are often used as well. I'm sure there's more but I'm just going off of what I know from experience and years of off and on investigation into the disorder.

I've seen manic episodes in full glory and this poor girl needs help as soon as humanly possible! She will likely not hurt anyone else but could be in great danger of hurting herself or engaging in reckless, damaging behavior. I wonder why her mother thought she might head to this area? Does she have friends in Creve Coeur or Peoria? What are her hobbies and habits? Is there any type of hang out spot she'd be attracted to? I would be glad to head to Peoria and post some fliers in those types of areas. I have some friends there I've been promising to meet for lunch anyway.

I'm still not sure what's appropriate though. I don't want to go about things the wrong way. What's the protocol for something like this? Is asking to posting fliers acceptable even if you don't know the missing person or their family? If so, would we make our own fliers using factual, basic information or would there be one we can print off? Who would we need to contact for permission? Hannibal authorities? I know I'd obviously need permission from businesses themselves before posting anything in their establishment.

HTH - I'm sure the family appreciates any & all help they can get to bring Christina home.

Thanks for the great link! In digging a little more I see that Peoria's already been hit with flyers, but no one's mentioned Bloomington so I'm going to run off about 50 copies and hit some local businesses. I submitted the case to my friend and it's now up to the editor on if they'll run anything cause it does seem to be considered stale. Newspaper politics are so frustrating. It seems Christmas shopping babble is more important than a missing person. It makes me want to cry.

It's disappointing that the charts don't support the recent sighting in Illinois. Not because it's near where I am, that doesn't matter, but because it would have meant she was at least physically okay at that time. The thought of no legitimate sightings at all since her disappearance is much scarier.

However I don't know much about astrology and while I don't mean to discredit it, I am definitely still putting up fliers. Besides, even if the charts are right, you never know, someone may stop in this area who either has seen her or my spot her at a later date.

Some folks here have had good luck w/ Kinko's copying flyers for the missing for free.

Worth a shot - especially if you want more than 50 copies.

Hey, THANKS! I work from home so was going to use my own color copier, but I won't lie, it would have cost a mint in ink. I think I will inquire at Kinkos. Even if they can't do it for free, maybe they can do it for a discounted rate.

It saddens me that this is her baby's first Christmas and she may not be there for it. This case is haunting me, probably because of the Bipolar aspect, and because of the possible sighting in my area.

We actually had quite a scare last month when my Bipolar father was missing for over four hours. He's big into volunteering now that he's retired, and he was supposed to pick up a fellow Veteran for a doctor's appt. He's ALWAYS early or right on time, but that day the Veteran called, saying he never showed. I was so upset! I feared he had suddenly gone into an episode and was lost, confused or hurt. Fortunately my father returned home and was perfectly fine. He had taken a completely different veteran to a doctors appt out of town. The veteran who called about him not showing had the date of his appt wrong.

From what I've read about Christina, she seems like such a sweet, good-natured girl. The photos of her and her family are so touching. She's smiling, laughing and just generally having fun. I know the terror I went through during the four hours I thought my father was missing, but I can't even imagine what her family must be going through, day after day, especially with her being a young woman. My heart breaks for them, and for Christina.

Does anyone know if Christina has a MySpace page set up for her? I couldn't find one.

Tearful bump for Christina.

ETA: Thanks to a sweet boardie, I found the MS page for Christina.

It's been five weeks since 21 year old Christina Whittaker went missing in Hannibal.

The day she went missing was November 13th.

Since then her family has had to go through Thanksgiving, and now Christmas is just a few days away.

KHQA visited with Christina's mom, and it's clear it's hard for this family to celebrate any holidays.

There's no Christmas tree in Cindy Young's living room.

how did this one just disappear from the radar screen?

I see almost nothing in the news since Dec 21.

Christina Whitaker FB page: PRAY for the safe return of Christina Whittaker Young.
Her mom, Cindy Young posts that she feels Christina may have been heavily drugged and forced into prostitution.
She further says that all Christina wanted was a ride home that night. Cindy Young posts her phone number.

Odd. I went to the website and was interested in reading comments. Looks like the webmaster of that site disabled comments.

Not a very helpful thing in my book if you are trying to locate a loved one and someone might want to post a helpful (although maybe not what they wanted to hear) comment anonymously.

Thank you, webrocket.

It really bothers me that the media keeps posting this terrible picture of Christina. We all have had bad days.

It also upsets me that, none of her so called friends followed her out of the bar that night to make sure she was ok!

I been wondering who ever pick her up ask if she want to go to the Casino in Peoria.

With her drinking she might agree. Plus there a river that run through Peoria. just FYI

The casino would be like 9 miles from Pekins. I wonder if LE took a flyer to the Casino?

Benefit planned for missing Hannibal woman

HANNIBAL, MO -- Two months ago Wednesday, 21-year-old Christina Whittaker of Hannibal went missing.

KHQA spoke to her mom, Cindy Young, Wednesday afternoon.

She said a benefit is being planned next month; however, a location has not been established yet.

The family hopes to use the money to hire a private investigator to find Christina.

Right now, the family is looking for donations from businesses to raffle and auction off.

Young said police continue to follow hundreds of leads, still out of the Peoria area, but so far police haven't come up with anything.

There's a benefit account set up at the Bank of Hannibal for anyone wishing to donate.
