ATLANTIC CITY SK: possible link to LISK and GB4?

But what case did James Patterson get his inspiration from?

Well, after having written some dozen books myself (even not in English but mostly in German), including some serial killers, terrorists, and a little "how to steal the Golden Gate Bridge", I could give you kind of a cooking recipe how to write an SK thriller without one concrete case as inspiration. See, as writer, many just have a character and build the case around the character, not vice versa. Sullivan once brough up a nice example. He had seen those pentecostal churches with their snake rituals, somewhere in Pennsylvania or so. Well, he watched them and the result was an SK killing with snakes in a way never a real case occurred. Personally, I think, he was a little scared by the snakes.
Often, we have long lists of possible details we mix to get our plots together. Thriller writers can be a devious bloodthirsty bunch and they have in average higher IQs and more imagination than SKs. Well, except for that guy in Mexico, I think. He wrote horror and ate five people in the course of his research for the next book, so ... well, I think, you get the point.

Has anyone here ever read Beach Road?

I have. James Patterson is my favorite author & I've read all of his books. If Beach Road is connected in some way, it confuses me bc if I'd pick any of Patterson's novels in comparison to these murders, I'd pick Pop Goes The Weasel.

I've no idea if a Patterson book is connected as meant to be by the killer, but something worth noting is that any serial murder book could find similarities & connections. It's pretty common knowledge that hookers are prime targets of serial killers and several authors have used AC & parts of NY as their backdrop. If in fact Beach Road is connected, then why? What would the killer be saying? To look at The Hamptons?

Instead of the killer living or working in or near AC, maybe he is a casino regular that travels there for certain weekend ventures. If he's frequent, then he'd get room perks quite often.

Thanks for your responses Mr. Brendt. I always find your take on things very interesting and informative. You sure seem to have a very exciting life. You have my dream job.

Jersey Girl, Yeah, I guess I jumped the gun. I have been following this case so long it's getting hard for me to remember where I got my information from and to remind myself that most of it is just speculation, such as whether or not the killer is a serial killer by the FBI's definition. I've read so many different and equally possible theories about how he/they lured these young women it makes my head spin. One of the theories I have read (I believe here) was that the killer may have hacked into the victims' phones and/or computers. And when I read that in Patterson's novel "Private", along with the other notes I posted, I couldn't contain myself.

@The Foreigner. Woman, you were right on that! Thanks. And you asked a very logical question that I didn't even consider in my OMG frenzy - When was this book published?

I do still wonder however if the killer or killers did hack into the victims cellphones or computers. I see James Patterson does his research. Now I know why he is considered such an accomplished and prolific writer. His stuff is a good read. Though I wish his scenarios only happened in fiction books.

We know that the killer/killers turned on Melissa Barthelemy's cell phone and find her sister and boyfriend's phone numbers in the phone's contact list. We know that Megan, Melissa and Amber all advertised on Craigslist and other sites (can't remember if Maureen did too). Craigslist has been around for at least 10 years. I can remember a friend of mine looking for a place to rent in LA on Craigslist back in 2002. Jessica Taylor was killed in 2003. I don't think that she used Craigslist. I was under the assumption that she and the AC victims were more of the street-walker type. The killer is at least savvy enough to know how long it takes for a call to be traced, and he knows about cell phone towers and pinging. He's also someone who most likely saw the ads on Craigslist. I don't know if he's a hacker per se, but he's got some basic tech skills.

I can see similarities between AC and GB, but I have a hard time seeing similarities between AC and Manorville. The only similarity I can see between Jessica's murder and the AC murders is that these women were street-walkers. The dismemberment of Jessica is so dramatically different from AC. Has there ever been any mention of cell phones in the AC case? Were the victims' phones recovered? Did LE look at those phone records?

Actually there are pictures posted all over the internet of HA, and where he looks exactly like the sketch right down to the sunglasses.

I wonder if JB and HA knew each other.

I don´t know if the know each other.
JB and HA are both born August 1964.
Anyone know where Joseph Brewer was born and where went to school?

(HA's x-wife, the 4th AC4 victim Kim Raffo, was born on Long Island, but I don´t know where on LI)

I find it very odd that HA, as a grieving husband, would refer to his wife's horrendous and brutal murder as "the AC Crap"! I also wonder if JB and HA were ever party buddies.

Apparently hacking in to someones cell phone is pretty easy. Once you have access to the phone, like on a previous "date", you could secretly access the victims phone and find out the email forwarding number and access the victims voice mail, emails etc at a later time. HA did this on Kim's phone prior to her being killed. He even thinks the SK answered her phone after her death.

Do you know what it was that led him to think that the SK answered her phone? Did he call it? Wouldn't her phone have been turned over to the police?

Do you know about the other AC victims' phones?

HA claims he called and talked several times to Kim from October 14th (when he last saw her in Atlantic City) until right before she was murdered. He says he also had her pass code so he could listen to her messages. On the night Kim was killed he claims someone picked up her phone. They didn't say anything, but he thinks it was the SK. None of the phones of any of the AC victims were ever found.

That is one of those serious inconcistances of HA's, did HA talk with Kim Raffo on the phone, or not, after he left her in Atlantic City??? .

HA has stated many times, in different interviews through the years, that the very last time he ever saw or talked to Kim Raffo was Oct 14, 2006 on Long Island.
(Another HUGE!!! inconcistance; it wasn't until last fall 2011 that he one of a sudden said that he followed Kim to Atlantic City after she left Long island !!!)

Anyway, here is one example from Nov 23, 2006 the very day after Kim Raffo was found murdered.
One should think HA's memory would be fresh concerning when he last talked to Kim on the phone:

Note, that that is a direct quote of HA, his own words 3 days after she was found murdered!

I believe he did texted, he did call her, he did listen to her voice mails, but I also believe she didn't want to talk to him and was ignoring him. She left, she didn't want him.

That's what I think too. If she wanted to be with him, she would have left with him when he came to get her. After she left Florida, she had not one but two boyfriends whom she lived with. I can understand one affair and then maybe going back, but not two-both of which were rather long-term. The thing about the wedding ring doesn't make sense to me. I think he wanted her back, but I don't believe that the feeling was mutual (MOO).

According to the above, AC was experiencing a coastal storm at the time of the murders.

Since KR was the last woman to be murdered in this set of 4 bodies, perhaps IMO, the other women were killed as warning to KR of what might happen to her and to scare her to return to her previous life?

Exactly!

And interestigly, according to her husband, Kim Raffo left Long Island for Atlantic City at the end of Sep, and returned, at some point, to LI at the beginning of Oct, Oct 3rd her husband claim.

And the first AC victim Molly Ditls disappeared Oct 7.

Then Kim Raffo left LI again Oct 14, and her hussband, have recently stated that he actually followed after her to Atlantic city, that same day, to try convince her to go with him to Florida, but she declined.

October 17 the second AC victim, Barbara Breidor disappear.

And IMHO the fact that Kim Raffo knew all the other 3 AC victims, also support the theorie that the murders could have been commited to scare Kim Raffo out of her life in AC as a prostitute and back to her family. And when she declined, she had to die.

I´m not saying there is a connection, however I indeed find the timing interesting.

Note, that that is a direct quote of HA, his own words 3 days after she was found murdered!

Here is a good example on how contradictive HA's statements are.
In the above post of mine he says 3 days after Kim was found that he had not been able to talk to Kim at all.

Now in the recent dark Minds episode HA was interviewed on camera:

In the interview HA is stating that he talked to Kim Raffo TWO DAYS BEFORE his "brother in law happened to call" him and told HA that Kim Raffo was dead!

HA has previously stated that he got that call from his brother in law Nov 20, 2006.

SO, in the Dark Mind interview HA is indirectly saying that he talked to Kim Raffo Nov 18th, 2006! TWO days before she was murdered.

Here is a link to the trailer:

http://investigation.discovery.com/tv/dark-minds/

HA is talking at 00:42 -00:57

HA:
"The last time that I spoke to her,
It was just a quick conversation,
and you could see that she was avoiding any type of help,
I didn´t know what to do,
and then two days later my brother in law happened to call me,
he told me that Kim was dead."

So which is it??? did HA talk to Kim on the phone or not in the week up to her death?

Another thing; if you say:
"The last time that I spoke to her, It was just a quick conversation and you could see that she was avoiding any type of help"
"you could see"...is that really somthing you would say if you talked to somone on the phone??? wouldn't you say "I could hear"?

She was avoiding any kind of help from him. That does not necessarily mean she was avoiding help from anyone. She was avoiding him!
