MISSING/ENDANGERED PERSON

The Wood County Sheriff’s Department is searching for 73 year old Gerald L. Brody. Gerald was reported missing and endangered on April 16, 2017 by family members. The photo below was captured on a trail camera on April 13, 2017 south of his residence. Mr. Brody lives in the Town of Saratoga near STH 73 and South Young St.

Mr. Brody is believed to have left his residence on foot and does not have a cell phone.

They say there is evidence that he has been back to his home twice since he was reported missing.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Department is ending the search. The search could be re-started based on any new leads that come in.

This states that he left a note on one of his trips back to the home. Wonder what the note said? They are not disclosing that.

Details of Disappearance
Brody was last seen on a trail in the woods south of his residence, which was near State Highway 73 and south Young Street in Saratoga, Wisconsin, on April 13, 2017. He has never been heard from again and an extensive search of the area turned up no indication of his whereabouts.

He has been known to drop out of sight from time to time, but never for this long. He apparently returned home at some point after he was reported missing and left a note, then left again. Authorities haven't stated what the note said.

Brody didn't have a cellular phone at the time of his disappearance, and he had never learned to drive. He used a bicycle for transportation his whole life, but the bike he usually rode was left behind at his residence. His residence was full of clutter, and he had no running water; he would bathe in a creek behind his house. Several guns were found in his residence; it's unclear whether any were missing.

The circumstances of Brody's case are unclear. His case remains unsolved.

I would just like to clarify a few things... there was a bicycle that was at Gerald's home but it is unknown how many bicycles he had as he was a hoarder. It is also unknown if Gerald is the one that left behind the note or not. There were other people who may have had access to his property.

Gerald Brody was 73 years old when he was reported missing from his home in the Town of Saratoga, Wisconsin by his family on April 16, 2017.




Gerald’s family says that Gerald is known to leave his home and stay away for periods of time, but not for this long. It is believed that he returned home at least two times since he was reported missing, leaving a note one of those times. It has not been released what that note said. His photo was captured on a trail camera in the woods south of his residence on April 13, 2017. His friends and family have not heard from him. He left his home on foot and does not have a cell phone. Extensive searches have been done, and all leads that have been reported have been followed up on, but police have been unable to locate Gerald.

Gerald is described as a white/Caucasian male, between 5’6 and 6’0" tall, and somewhere between 150 and 190 pounds. He has gray, or partially gray hair and mustache. He was last seen wearing a green coat and a dark colored blue or black stocking cap.

Gerald would be 76 years old today
