GUILTY NC - Jerome, 73, & Dora Faulkner, 62, murdered, Granville County, 1 Jan 2015

From the above link:

" Deputies told ABC11 Friday the pair stole a vehicle in Texas before heading east, but it wasn't clear where. Detectives were trying to determine what other crimes they might be tied to. Federal authorities are involved because the case crosses state lines."

Picture of 2nd suspect Edward Campbell at above link also. They covered a large area traveling from Texas to North Carolina. It's hard to tell how many victims there are along the way.

Tried to find some more info. about this tragedy ; there isn't much out there unless I'm looking in the wrong place ?

Thursday night, police stopped two suspects in rural West Virginia when officers noticed they were driving a stolen pick-up truck with NC plates. The suspects, a father and son from Texas, allegedly opened fire on the officers, injuring two of them. Then, police say a grisly discovery was made after the men were arrested - the bodies of Jerome and Dora Faulkner under a mattress in the bed of their own truck.

Meanwhile, investigators are struggling to piece together what exactly happened to Dora and Jerome.

"Everything at the home is gone, no evidence there," Waters said

Here is the disciplinary report that got his nursing license revoked in 2009

oops! Maybe this link will work better: https://www.bon.state.tx.us/discipline_and_complaints_disciplinary_action_102009.asp

Hmmm. One of my online friends is a nurse who was friends/worked with Dora, the female victim.
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/west-virginia-police-officers-shot-bodies-found-during-traffic-stop/ (can't cut and paste from article, but it mentions she was working as a nurse.)

So while it could have been random, it makes me wonder if there is a connection through the nursing/medical field.

ETA: My friend reported Dora was "an amazing lady."

1. What's wrong with people today? -- nothing; human nature's as it's always been, "red in tooth and claw."

2. I haven't read the more recent things, but what happened to the named suspect "of Middle Easstern descent"? Was that some big scare thing, encouraging the public to think interstate jihadis were torching homes and kidnapping our elderly?

You will not find many people on Indian Acres Street in Alvin who are surprised that their Edward Campbell is under arrest and and accused in connection to the murders.

"He come up to the fence and looked at me and said: 'I'll kill you!' and shook the fence like a crazy man, which he is," neighbor Robert Bowers said.

Bowers lived across the street from Campbell. He and his daughter say they would see fires burning late at night behind the house where Edward lived with his son Eric.

"Their son told me about it," Brenda Bowers said. "Like 3 in the morning, they'd see him out back in his underwear and starting fires. We'd be in here and all of a sudden our house would shake. Something would go boom and we'd be like, 'crazy man is starting a fire again.'"

Edward Campbell is accused of jumping bail on Dec. 18 in an assault case in Brazoria County. He's accused of attacking his wife with a gun in September. A warrant was issued for his arrest after he didn't show up in court last month.

After reading BeginnersLuck's post (regarding Edward Campbell's behaviors according to neighbors) I should probably also point out that Dory worked at Central Regional Hospital. It is a psychiatric hospital.

The Faulkners were members of Mountain Creek Baptist Church and well-known by people in the area. Jerome Faulkner was a deacon in the church and Dora Faulkner worked as a nurse at Central Regional Hospital in Butner.

Again, maybe all coincidental. Maybe not. Horrific all the way around. :(

I really don't think so. The thugs were from Texas and the victims where from NC from the way I understand it. Or do I have that wrong?

To me it is another scary case of a home invasion by strangers which turned deadly for the homeowners.

I have read so many cases of late about home invasions who are being committed by complete strangers. I think this will be the case here.

They probably took the bodies with them to make everyone think the homeowners weren't home when the fire started.

I certainly do believe they will find more crimes this father and son team has committed. I am glad the police are trying to retrace their steps before they murdered this lovely couple. No telling who else they have harmed along the way while on their crime spree.

I hope Mr. Faulkner put all those injuries on the younger 's face. He must have sustained them during either the home invasion/kidnapping or murders. The police said in an article I read that the young one ran from the scene but when caught... gave up without a fight.

In today's time no one should open the door to someone they don't know. And plenty of home invasions are including elderly victims as the targets. Sometimes they can be more trusting.:(

God bless this sweet couple and their family.

Days after police arrested two Alvin men in West Virginia connected to a multi-state crime spree that left a couple from North Carolina dead and nearly claimed the lives of two Lewisburg, W. Va., police, there was grief, confusion and few answers...

Neighbors said Campbell's wife and her children moved out months ago, and that Eric Campbell had lived in the family home after his father was arrested in September... During an ordeal lasting several hours, Campbell choked his wife, struck her with a pistol and wrapped a noose around her neck, according to court records. "She was scared for her life and believed that Edward Campbell was going to kill her," the court documents stated.

From the little bits being released, it appears Edward was clearly a disturbed individual that was a danger to the public. I am tired of seeing people like this out on bond committing more horrible crimes and taking the lives of innocent people.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Eric's injuries in the mugshot were from Edward.

Daugherty, Edward Campbell’s ex-wife, said his behavior changed after he became a registered nurse at a hospital and started stealing morphine and valium for personal use.

Edward Campbell has had several run-ins with the law since, including a narcotics conviction and his Texas medical license being revoked in 2009 for misappropriation of narcotics.

“He slipped through the cracks a lot,” she said. “That guy should have been in jail a long time ago.”

(...)

The murders of 73-year old Jerome Faulkner and his 62-year old wife Dora were gruesome and random.
