my opinion regarding the protests is that the attorneys know that there are too many people with contributory actions to get a really large settlement from a jury at trial so you use what amounts to fiscal blackmail to try to force the hotel to offer a better settlement. Or simply put the squeaky wheel gets oiled. The louder the squeak the more oil.

And that's really pitiful, considering that all of those kids were there illegally, in a room paid for with a fraudulent credit card. IMO, that simple fact should relieve the hotel of any responsibility for any of them, but I know that isn't how the world works.

To me, some of the uproar and protests are due to the seeming lack of concern by hotel toward K's mother, as opposed to their perhaps treatment of a white woman in same circumstances but jmo. And this may have some validity.

Casinos are a whole different animal than an airport hotel. They are watching folks who they are going to profit off of, and they want everything above board and for everyone to have fun and gamble, gamble , gamble. Comping a room is like me giving someone $10 bucks. They want no cheating, no foul play by their employees, and they are going to watch for opportunists. Anything that will cause their haul to go bad that night. People are gambling big bucks a lot of times and, Casinos spend millions of dollars on security because owners want everything to operate on the up and up.

People go to hotels for a variety of reasons, some for business conferences, some for discrete affairs, some just flying from state to state, some for partying, and most of the time if it's a late night party they don't want to be followed around by hotel staff.

There's only a skeleton crew on hotel night shifts, especially in cities, during the weekend. They can't go chasing every adult that comes through the lobby who is staggering around. They have bars in the hotel. That happens all the time. Every conference, in every state, that I've attended, there's been at least one person, usually more, who has over indulged at the evening festivities, or at the motel bar. Not one motel employee have I ever seen follow them around to ensure their safety. Her friends were with her, if anyone should have noticed she was out of her head, it should have been them, and at least one should have stayed with her, while the other two went to get the things from the room.
No, when a security sensor goes off because a guest is in a restricted area such as a kitchen, a supposed kitchen that is under construction, and she doesn't come back through, that is suspicious behavior at the very least. And hotels do employee night crew to monitor those cameras. Especially in a large hotel where there are events. We are not talking about a motel. I get the difference between a casino hotel and the crown. I was making a comment based off of what I have been told from a person that worked nights manning the cameras for hotel guests.

Yes I know i read it somewhere. Or did I see it on KJ memory FB?! To be continued...I'm gonna go search for that article.

I don't know if she said it like that she was clear she believed her daughter was murdered in the hotel

She has repeatedly said all I am saying is stuff does not add up

What I'm not understanding is why:
1. Everyone is assuming that they have the right to even see this footage that was released? This is not the norm. They don't HAVE to show us anything. I mean there are other people walking these halls at this hotel too-- footage that has others in the frames I'm sure. Where did everyone get the idea that this is PUBLIC info? (I'm speaking of everyone, on SM, discussion forums etc- not necessarily here)

2. What, if anything, do we know is hoped to be accomplished with these nightly protests?

3. Am I the only one who feels like bashing my head against a wall trying to follow this SM spectacle. I almost think it is disrespectful to a young woman who hasn't even been laid to rest yet. I feel sorry for her and her family.

4. Do you all feel like with all this commotion going on LE will ever be able to get to the bottom of this?

5. Has our world become so convoluted that we can't trust hotel cameras, detectives and eye witnesses to hope they are doing what they can?

Am I the only person who doesn't think there is some conspiracy? I'm at a loss.

I agree with you! The spectacle on Facebook is literally ridiculous. Everything is a huge conspiracy. Nothing you can say will talk any sense into these people.

sorry about that

While we may consider "possibilities", those theories cannot be wild *** speculation and must be based on some semblance of known fact. Posts about organ harvesting and human trafficking have been removed as there is nothing to indicate they are related to this case.

Please stay on-topic and reasonably fact-based.

Do we even know for sure that the people who rented the room were people who Kenneka knew? Looking at the photos of the couple checking in with the stolen cc they do not look like teens. There are a bunch of party guests that the police can't find and there is no way there were 30-45 people in one room at the same time, IMO. Different people probably cycled in and out all night. To me, it sounds like Kenneka and her friends heard about this party (probably through social media) and went to check it out for KJ's birthday, NOT that this was a party thrown specifically for her. They probably got some drinks and whatever else was being served there, then hotel security started knocking because of the noise so they decided to split so they didn't get in trouble. KJ somehow got lost/separated when they were trying to leave and since half of them were wasted their stories don't make sense or are half-lies to cover up for their illegal drinking. All JMO. :moo:

I'm going to share a little. Not to put what KJ's mother is going through in any sort of bad light at all, but, it happens everywhere.
That may not be their perception, and, I can't say why they feel the way they feel, but, I've posted this on here earlier, I've gotten much the same treatment in trying to locate my wayward one, and we're as white as you can get, and my child was under age at the time, and was considered a run away. This same wayward one almost lost their life not long ago, at a motel party, but one friend with some sense called 911, but, my now of age child, refused the ride. They could not force this, obviously out of their mind person, to go to the hospital because my kid was an adult. We were called, by the friend, and went out in the middle of the night driving to the next city, to some guy's house we'd never been to, to try and talk our kid to go to the ER. Absolutely would not go, stagger/ran from us. Had to coax them back out. Higher than a Georgia Pine on something. Not making sense at all. I'd never seen them that bad. The friends had taken our child there, because they'd tried to trick them into going to the ER, but when they got near the hospital, in my child's total paranoia, they tried to jump out of the car, so they went to a friend's place where all of them could safely make sure nothing bad happened, and could call 911 again, if it got worse.

My point: If my kid had died, it would not have been the EMT's fault who arrived at the motel, nor the motel's, who rented them the room, nor friend's fault (unless they'd slipped something to them and that didn't happen).

Misunderstood. Apparently no on was watching the cameras, or they'd not been updated to have a censor go off. That's why some cameras show cruddy footage. They're old.

I think it was Irene's birthday. I might be mistaken though and I'm thinking that maybe whoever was in the room on the 11th floor may have some pertinent info about this. Just a guess though. They took Mom up to the 11th floor to talk to someone but she said they were trying to get reception on their phone and didn't say much other than she'd seen KJ.

There's also a lot we don't know about that situation. We know that when she went to the hotel, the front desk people told her they couldn't review the security footage without the police being involved. If that's the hotel policy, you can't really blame the staff for that. Also, I thought they did help her look around on the floor where KJ was partying, and the lobby area. And when mom called the police, she didn't sound like she felt she was being treated badly by the hotel. She asked if an officer could come look at video. If the hotel staff was refusing to help her and being rude, I would expect to hear something about that on the call. Also, KJ wasn't a registered guest of the hotel, the staff didn't even know for sure that she had been there at all! There are a lot of other things to consider besides race, and we don't even know the race of the hotel employees she dealt with.

I was surprised at how bad the video was

The hotel is obviously not being completely transparent and therefore any pressure on the hotel to do so, is justified. If that looks like a protest, so be it. Until they are being fully transparent, they should feel it in their pockets (and they are).

They offered to let her view all 36 hours of security footage surrounding that night. How much more transparent can they get? Seriously. They don't have to reveal video to the public, nor to her, only LE, but they offered to allow her to view the video.

How are they not being transparent?

The Rules in this thread are no different than any other thread.

First of all, there is no official indication that a crime has occurred.

Secondly, unless someone is named a POI or suspect in a case, do not sleuth them. You may only discuss what has been said about them in MSM or by LE. In other words, stop the sleuthing, discussion, aspersions related to the hotel, all law enforcement, and any other individual or entity that has not been officially named as responsible for what happened to Kenneka.

This is not a free-for-all, so leave those type of posts out of this discussion.

Post responsibly folks, or timeouts will be issued. No more warnings.

I deal with security cameras as my workplace. We are told absolutely no one views footage without permission from owner. Your car got hit, someone got your purse out of your car..same answer I'll have to contact the owner and see if I can do that for you.
A couple reasons
1. If you find a crime the cops come record it. then the owner has to show up for court and testify those are his camera at his place of business. Date ,Time, and then we may be sued by someone who thinks we should have been out there guarding their car.
2. Also you don't know if they have gave a truthful reason to view them. Someone hit my car could really be "I think my spouse is cheating and her car was parked here while I was at work" and we don't get involved in that.
Now we have an excellent camera system the officers do come and ask to see if someone drove by out front..such as after maybe a robbery or hit and run...we do always comply with request from them.
But I can see why they told her no.
