The age doesn't match, but Billie Jean Hall had those kinds of injuries to her body from a car accident.

Nancy Estremera appears to have a scar on her left temple and cheek precisely in the same location and same length as that on the UID.

She also very strongly resembles the reconstruction.

Her height and age are within range, and her DLC predates the discovery of the remains by 127 days (or just over 4 months).

But there is no mention that she had her jaws wired shut.

ETA: My screen yielded a few other women with similar scars or discolorations in the same location on the left temple and cheek. However, none of them have such similar facial structure.

That certainly looks like a good possibility, Carl -- and it's amazing what some of thw missing person descriptions forget to mention.

I finally got ahold of Capt. Solomon Young of the Kansas City PD regarding the possible match of this case to Nancy Estremera. He was not familiar with the case, but he took down the info and said he would look into it.

I told him that I was a member of an online group that works on solving missing persons and UID cases, and explained how I came across this possible match.

He jokingly stated he wished that we would spend some time on another case that they've been spending alot of time on. I asked if it was the Asian woman's bones that were found in the barrel, and he laughed and said yes. We spent about 10-15 minutes talking about this case and the other one.

When I first started talking to him on the phone, he didn't sound too interested, but when he saw that I knew about the other case off the top of my head, he loosened up a little. I was a little more confident at the end of the call than I was at the beginning that he would take this tip seriously.

Nancy looks like a great match for this UID! Interesting case with the jaw being wired shut...would they have checked with hospitals in the area for people that would have been given this treatment? Or since the remains were skeletal and no estimated time of death would they of not even tried that? Very sad.

Did you look at Vivian Irene Botz? The second photo of her looks like the recon in my opinion. A bit older then the estimation; but she is 5'8; scars on her face don't happen my mistake.

The above link has her at 5'5 and doesn't have the second photo.

Vivian Botz does look like a good possibility. The age difference is not that far off. As people get older, the ability to accurately estimate their age decreases.

There isn't a view of her left temple to evaluate whether she has a similar scar. The other scarring on her face look more like the result of a medical condition than the result of a traumatic injury.

While I was out this morning, I received a message from a Detective Jenkins from KCPD. He had additional questions, but when I returned his call, all I got was his answering machine. When I do talk to him, I'll mention Vivian as an alternative possible.

Vivian looks like a good match too! You know, it's amazing how different her nose looks from the younger photo to the one where she is older...or maybe it's just the picture.

I spoke with Detective Jenkins, and gave him all of the information on both Nancy Estremera and Vivian Botz. He said that he does recall a UID case of a skull and some bones from October 99, but he was having trouble locating the case file. I gave him the DoeNet and NamUs case numbers on the UID, and he said that he would get back to me sometime around the middle of next week.

noses and ears never stop growing...;)

You guys are great! Both look like good matches to me. The wired jaw and skull fracture immediately made me think "domestic violence." My sister's husband (ex now) beat her so badly that her jaw was broken and wired shut and she was very badly injured (and 8 months pregnant!) I wonder if either of these women had someone in their lives that was/is violent. I haven't looked at either particular case yet so I will go look. Just thought it might be possible rather than an automobile accident.

Her nose was more then likely like that from it being broken at the time that picture was taken. It was not like that all the time as you can tell in the other pictures. Thank you all for looking at my mom's case we need all the help we can get.

Did this detective ever get back to you?

I gave him the DoeNet and NamUs case numbers on the UID, and he said that he would get back to me sometime around the middle of next week.

Did this detective ever get back to you?

No, but it's been a few weeks, and I should call him back for an update.

Do you know if she had a scar on her left temple, or whether her jaws were wired shut around the time of her disappearance?

Yes on the scar but her mouth wasn't wired shut. I was only 14 when she went missing and lived with family friends so and the last time I seen her was 2 months before she went missing. So alot could have happend in those 2 months I don't know about.

Did this detective ever get back to you?

Detective Jenkins left me a message. Said that he's spoken with the daughter of Vivian Botz (you, I presume).

He has also spoken with Wichita PD re: Vivian Botz, and Broward County re: Nancy Estremera. Both are in the process of sending information to him, but he has not received anything from them yet.

But he says that he will let me know when he gets any results on either of these two cases.

Thank You. My sister Jasmine is the one who talks to the detectives so I will be sure to be to talk to er to see what she knows.

Is Babette Alberti [Phillips] at all a possibility? Her NamUs entry indicates that she had her jaw wired due to a fracture at some point. She also suffered broken ribs during her youth, although the UID's Doe Network entry sounds like the rib fractures were perimortem. She disappeared from Louisiana in 1983. The difference in height is very large — 65-68 inches for the UID, about 60 inches for Babette Alberti — but the UID's height is apparently an estimate derived from the remains that were found, a skull and a few ribs.

(Also worth noting: Tabitha Diane Brewer's stats align very well with the UID's, but Tabitha was apparently ruled out via DNA, according to a thread:
