** Please note that it's important, since we'll be reviewing a variety of information, that we don't turn this into a General Discussion thread, and cause more work for our mods.

** The goal is to look for new information, information that now has more meaning to us than it did earlier, and document it here, so let's stay focused!

** If we want to discuss possible meanings of what we find, let's do it in one of the discussion threads, so we can stay focused on our fact finding mission here.

We have a LOT to review today, so let's get started! :)

Thanks!
BeanE

News Release from: Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office MID-DAY UPDATE DAY FOUR ON THE SEARCH FOR KYRON HORMAN
Posted: June 7th, 2010 2:30 PM

Kyron_Trucks.jpg

The Search for Seven-year-old Kyron Horman continues this afternoon with a large compliment of Local, State, and Federal law enforcement officials along with search and rescue crews from all over the region.

At 12:00 p.m. Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Captain Jason Gates gave a press conference where he talked about the ongoing investigation. In that conference Captain Gates appealed to the public to "keep the tips coming in". He said, since Friday, there have been over 1,200 tips that investigators have received and are in the process of following up.

Capt. Gates asked people to not show up at the search scene; he reiterated that there are numerous professional search teams on the scene, and said "we do not need civilian searchers".

Capt. Gates said the interviews with parents and students of the Skyline School are continuing today and asked that any parents who have not talked to detectives please call our tip line to set up an interview time.

This morning detectives canvassed Skyline Road and passed out flyers to motorists who were driving though the area at about the same time Kyron disappeared.

Capt. Gates said investigators were prioritizing leads and because of that some people may have to wait before being contacted by investigators. He asked that people please be patient and investigators will contact them.

Capt. Gates asked people who live in the area to search their properties and leave no stone unturned when looking for Kyron. He reiterated that our main mission and focus is to bring Kyron Home as soon as we can. He said investigators are not sharing all of the information with the public because they so not want to taint anyone's recollection of events.

There will be another press briefing at 4:00 pm. At the church across the street from the school.

Our Websleuths thread that contains the beginning of discussion on June 7:
http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106178&page=2

On this day, June 7, investigators continued interviewing Kaine, and Terri took her first polygraph test. Kaine claims that Terri came home from her poly and said that LE told her she had failed. This information is contained in the 25 minute audio interview of Kaine and Desiree with the Oregonian:
http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2010/07/terri_hormans_emails_to_kyron.html

"Authorities were reviewing photos and videos taken at the school's science fair. The last photo of Kyron shows the boy smiling Friday in front of his project on the red-eyed tree frog."

http://www.katu.com/news/local/95768334.html

I've seen this statement in other articles and don't know what to make of it - like here:

"PORTLAND, Ore. - While police said there was no indication Monday that Kyron Horman was kidnapped, the FBI called in a profiler who could help identify a possible kidnapper."

~snip

"The profiler will also make a profile of Horman based on what he learns from family, friends and teachers. That information could also tell the profiler and agents what type of person would target Horman."

I wanted to expound on this a little. If this was indeed the last photo taken of Kyron, that means it was taken at 8:15 (shortly after arriving to school). The time from 8:15 to 8:45 is presumably when they toured the rest of the fair. So, therefore, the police did not find any photographs or videos with Kyron (and perhaps Terri and the baby) after 8:15.

What this article doesn't say is that Terri is the person who took the last photo. Perhaps another person took a picture of Kyron smiling at the tree frog exhibit. This article doesn't clear that up. And I don't know where the 8:15 time for Terri's photo came from. Can you help with that one?

Can't help but wonder if they had let civilian searchers look would they have had a better chance. They never used TES either, did they?

Some of my notes on the second presser video listed above with Gates.

  • - interviews of staff, parents, and student wrapping up for the day.
  • - still some staff and parents haven't come in. LE will contact them if they don't come in.
  • - practically begging for tips
  • - leads from across oregon and washington state. most from oregon.
  • - nothing but absolute cooperation from the family
  • - no possibility eliminated yet
  • - more than 60% of the parents and staff have come forward
  • * yesterday Staton said 90% of students had been interviewed
  • - last seen 9am. won't say if it was a parent or student who saw him.
  • - energetic, fun-loving kid. well-liked and very social.
  • * why this contrast with timid and shy. Why is he so timid and shy with Desiree, and so energetic and social and fun-loving with everyone else?
  • - doesn't want to go into whether they're checking criminal backgrounds on school employees
  • - they are going to interview all school employees. he doesn't know if they all have been reached or interviewed yet.
  • - science fair was to last an hour
  • * 9 to 10? I thought it was 8 to 10. Does he mean 1 hour (9 to 10) for the kids?
  • - 2 interviewers per interview

I don't know why they haven't used TES yet. But I think they didn't want civilian searchers because they didn't want the perp to also be a searcher and they didn't know who might be involved.

Probably are no photos or videos of TH and Kyron... In my experience with events like the Science Fair, most parents concentrate on taking photos and videos of their own children, and their own children's exhibits. IMO

Actually, Terri's mom, CM, had this to say about Kyron:
"He's not real adventurous," she said. "He's a little timid. But if a friend wanted to go outside and look at something, he would follow the friend. He has a friend who he regularly gets in trouble with in the classroom because he talks too much."

Moulton said Kyron will not even venture far from his home in a wooded area.

"He won't get out of sight of the house," she said. "He's pretty insecure about that. So I can't see him wandering off." http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2010/06/details_emerge_about_the_day_k.html

That's always been my impression of the day. The parents were welcome to come from 8:00 to 8:45. We have to remember that not every child would have a parent available to come and would have to ride the bus. And the need for chaperons. So, assemble in class at 8:45. Tour for the chaperons, staff, and children was from 9:00 to 10:00.

The contrast between timid and shy and fun loving and social is interesting. But, Kyron didn't see Desiree as often as he saw his classmates and teachers.. Still doesn't really explain the contrast fully though, I wonder how Kyron presented to adults that he knew slightly ? Or total strangers ? IMO

All JMO

Gina Zimmerman and Carol Moulton also said that Kyron was a timid boy so IMO it's not quite fair to say he was timid with Desiree and social and outgoing with everybody else.
