Okay - the new, improved and updated (with some new missing kids

plus TWO RECOVERED, yay) is ready to be posted.

I'm going to have some brunch, so if anyone's up to adopting one of these kids or making a thread for one while I'm gone, please leave word below and I'll add that before I post.

My adoptee Demetrius Miller updated his FB page just this last Saturday, which is a couple days after he was reported missing. He added a picture that shows him looking well and pretty happy.

I might hold off on a thread for him for a few days, then, as I have the feeling he'll show up..

Over 66 kids/teens missing That seems a lot. Does anyone notice a pattern? Could some of them be victims of a serial killer?

Being a Washingtonian myself (transplanted to AZ), I think there are just a ton of runaways. There is high drug use in most of the rural areas, the cities are pretty skeevy to hang out in. There are also a ton of foster kids IMO.

There are a few that I really wonder about as being murder victims but most I think are just out there hanging out and will show up someday. Since I've been notified daily by NCMEC with alerts, I've been stunned how many go missing across the country daily and equally, how many are recovered. The worst is how many then go missing again. It's almost too much to follow sometimes.

I've been quite busy and using my free time on some cold cases, lately. But tomorrow, I'll do a thorough check of the 66 and see if any more have been recovered. I hope so! eta: I'll also update the list for those noted as recovereds.

Yay!

My original concern was for the high number of foster kids going missing - of course, I think the number's likely to be high due to runaways, as opposed to murders. But they -are- a highly vulnerable group, and the group least likely to spark a national outcry should something actually have happened to them. I just wanted to help make sure they were cared about too.

It's good to see a few of 'our kids' have been recovered so far. I'd LOVE to see some of the older cases end well, too.. while hope has to fade after a time, there's always room for a little of it.

I think it is AWESOME that you are doing this, and for those who are adopting!!! Thank you SO much! I hesitate to adopt one because I don't have a lot of time and experience, but will do what I can to pitch in. I have worked with a lot of foster kids, so this really touches my heart!

Thanks, Sunshine - and I don't have a lot, either.. but it doesn't take much to check on the kids once in a while for updates, etc. Says me, who hasn't done so in a while, mind you. No more slacking off for me!

Demetrius "DJ" was my student last year. I'm glad to hear that he may be ok out there.

Wow, Annie -- I hope he's okay, too. Somehow, I think he might be at least be holed up with pals somewhere if not recovered yet, the FB page kind of suggested that. He ought to come up with a 'located' or something on the missing persons page at least - but I've noticed they don't update all that frequently sometimes.

Well, that's at least 4/66 recovered so far.... (and one seen to be safe after going missing, if not recovered..)

Let's hope there's more, and we just don't know it yet! And more in the near future, too.

^ while I meant this thread to focus on the amount of kids that have gone missing from foster care in WA in recent years, it's very cool that there's attention to older cases too.. as well as other, non-foster care cases.

The link above has a shocking amount of old/cold/unsolved/still missing cases. Scrolling down them all, I just felt a chill. So many!

I'm thrilled to see quite a few kids recovered from our current list, but it's sad so many in this area have been missing 6 months or more..
