I wonder about the 17 yo girl and how she became involved with those two? Internet? Relatives? Frightening to realize she was hanging out with suspects in a possible homicide driving a stolen truck belonging to the missing victim. How much does she know about them?

I wonder if he knew them or if this was just a random act of violence.

let me see if I get this straight: They found his truck and the two suspects in Tulsa, OK and they found his body in Texarkana, TX.? Is this right?

Good question. Was it a carjacking, a robbery, or a drug deal gone wrong? Was the victim attacked in the vehicle and then dumped in the alley where he was found? Who else knew about it since there were 2 calls detailing where to find his body?

According to Texarkana, Texas police, two calls were made to 911 around 11:00 p.m. Friday that led patrol officers to an alley near the 1100 block of Della Street where they found Guilbeau's body.

She probably only knew what they wanted her to know. But the article says they are all from Tulsa, so maybe one is her boyfriend. The age difference is not that much.

They didn't even try to hide his body! Left in an alley, in town. What a waste of 3 lives over drugs, or a truck, or whatever stupid thing that prompted their heinous crimes! I will never understand!

Earlier this month:

Marquel Deonte Smith, 21; Brandon Eric Brown, 22; and Shamari Newton, 25, each entered not guilty pleas to murder last month at hearings before 202nd District Judge Leon Pesek...

Newton and Marquel Smith were allegedly dating at the time of Guilbeau’s death and witnesses reported Newton had knowledge of the killing, according to a probable cause affidavit.

All of the defendants are set to appear before Pesek again Feb. 1 for pretrial hearings and a status update on the discovery, or evidence, issue. Newton, Brown and Marquel Smith remain in jail.

Judge orders lower bonds for defendants: After release, murder suspects face house arrest, leg monitors, and other strict conditions

A Bowie County district judge ordered the release of three murder defendants on personal recognizance bonds Friday in keeping with a higher court's ruling handed down earlier this week.

At the end of each defendants' hearing, Pesek scheduled each for trial.

Pesek set jury selection in Marquell Smith's case for Oct. 4.

"That is a special setting and is nonmovable," Pesek said.

Pesek scheduled Brown's case for jury selection Nov. 7 and set Newton's trial for Dec. 6.

All of the defendants will return to court March 14 for pretrial hearings.

Jury finds man guilty of murder

http://www.texarkanagazette.com/news/texarkana/story/2017/feb/16/jury-finds-man-guilty-murder/661888/

A Bowie County jury found Marquell Smith guilty Wednesday afternoon in the February 2015 murder of Christopher Guilbeau.

The jury of nine women and three men began deliberating shortly before 5 p.m. after hearing closing arguments from First Assistant District Attorney Mike Shepherd, Assistant District Attorney Katie Carter and Texarkana defense lawyer Bruce Condit. They returned a guilty verdict shortly before 8 p.m.

The jury was instructed to return to the Bowie County Courthouse this morning for the punishment phase of Smith's trial. He faces five to 99 years or life in a Texas prison.

Evans testified Tuesday that he was homeless at the time and had spent the night in an abandoned car behind a mechanic's shop. Evans noticed Guilbeau sitting in his pickup on 14th Street and asked him for a cigarette. Evans said Guilbeau was kind, giving him three cigarettes and a lighter. Next Evans said Guilbeau offered to give him some cash if he helped him sell some methamphetamine. Evans said his need for money led him to accept Guilbeau's offer and direct him to Newton's apartment where he knew Smith would be.

Newton testified Wednesday that Evans went back to Guilbeau's truck after Smith told him he'd be down in a minute. Newton said that after Evans left the apartment, Smith asked Brown for his gun. Newton said Brown handed him a pistol and stayed with her in the apartment while Smith went downstairs to Guilbeau's truck.

"I heard shots, gun shots, like two or three," Newton said. "Next, I heard a frantic knock at my door."
