Police in Melbourne, Florida called out to a fight last Saturday arrested 20-year-old Stephanie Moore who was wanted on a charge of harassing marine turtles.

Authorities had been searching for Moore and another female suspect since a Facebook photo of two women riding the protected giant turtles had gone viral back in July and caused widespread condemnation and complaints.

After the pictures were shared online, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission took up the case as a criminal investigation. The department asked for the public's help in identifying the suspects.

Moore was jailed, pending payment of $2,000 bond.

Actually, it's against the law in FL to disturb Sea Turtles, nests or their eggs. What she did was wrong and now she needs to pay the consequences.

Yes. and everyone in Florida knows this. We even have laws about lights-out on beachfront properties during sea turtle nesting season.
