** Please note that it's important, since we'll be reviewing a variety of information, that we don't turn this into a General Discussion thread, and cause more work for our mods. The goal is to look for new information, information that now has more meaning to us than it did earlier, and document it here, so let's stay focused!

If we want to discuss possible meanings of what we find, let's do it in one of the discussion threads, so we can stay focused on our fact finding mission here.

** June 11 MCSO Press Releases

Press Release 1:

On Friday, June 11th, at 1:00 p.m., four members of the Horman family will be present to give a statement related to the search for Kyron Horman. Two members will be giving statements only. No questions will be field by the family members at that briefing.

The family statements will be given at the media center location in the Brookshill Historic Church across from Skyline Elementary Church.

No more information for release at this time.

Press Release 2:

On Friday, June 11, 2010, the following statement was given by Kyron's step-father at a 1:00 p.m. media briefing at the Brookhill Historical Church across from Skyline Elementary School.

A written statement made by Kryon's father is not available for this release

"Hello, my name is Tony Young, and I am Kyron's step-father. The family has asked me to speak on their behalf.

Kyron – we miss you. We love you. We want and need you home.

We are doing everything we can to work with law enforcement and the search and rescue crews to make sure you can get back to us as soon as possible.

We want to say how much we appreciate the outpouring of love and support – prayers and thoughts – as we wait for you. Your school friends and their families, the teachers and staff at your school, and the community as a whole have shown how much impact one little boy's smile can have.

You mean everything to us, and until you come home, our family is not complete.

Please Kyron – keep up the hope. We believe in you and we know you will be back with us soon."

Press Release 3:

To add to that information, we have on display the likenesses of the shirt, pants, socks and shoes Kyron was wearing on the day of his disappearance. The pants displayed here are of the same style Kyron was wearing, but those he was last seen in were darker. Otherwise these clothes represent identifying items in this search. We show these items to create additional awareness for the public – seeing any of these items individually (a sock, a shirt or shoe) could be the tip that we need to locate Kyron.

(see pictures on MCSO's website at the link below)

Good Afternoon. I'm Captain Monte Reiser of the Multnomah County Sheriffs Office, and I'll be updating you regarding our continuing search for Kyron.

During yesterday's briefing there was a question about community involvement in the search. We want to again make an appeal to the community that there many ways for you to be involved. First, we urge you to familiarize yourselves with pictures and information regarding Kyron, available both on our website at www.mcso.us, and at our media site at www.flashalert.net/news.html?id=1276 .

Your knowledge of his description and information regarding the search will raise public awareness and work in concert with our search and rescue efforts.

Also, we conducted a road canvas today from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., in an effort to contact motorists who may have been on the road when Kyron was headed to school last Friday. This road canvas targeted commuters, route drivers, delivery drivers; anyone who may have seen anything suspicious that morning, and all information taken this morning has been forwarded to investigators.

We also want to remind you, due to the continued overwhelming response in support of this search operation, we have established a drop off point for the community to donate, nuts, packaged snacks, granola bars, bottled water and juices, and other non-perishable food items. The drop off point is at the Multnomah County Wapato Facility, located at 14355 North Bybee Lake Court in Portland, zip code 97203. The drop site will be available today for donated item drop-off from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. I have a map to the Wapato Facility here, and there is one posted on our media site.

We also continue to receive tips on our tip line at 503-261-2847, and on our website at www.mcso.us .

Additionally, due to the sheer volume of requests, we have established a way for the community to make cash donations to support this search effort. Donations to the fund may be made at any Bank of America branch under the name "Kyron Horman Fund." This fund has been officially established by the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, and is the only fund sponsored by the Sheriff's Office.

Our search efforts continue this morning. I can report that we currently have 211 searchers in the field, with more teams arriving and being deployed today. We have included additional horse teams, as well as the foot searches and canine assets already in the field. We now have teams not only from Oregon, but Washington and California, as well as continued resource support from local municipalities, county, state and federal agencies. Additionally, the Oregon National Guard was able to update our SAR coordinator with specific photo information regarding all areas searched by helicopter to date.

Finally, I'll say again if there is any further information that would cause community participation that would aid in search and rescue efforts we will bring that information forward. Support for this search continues to be overwhelming. We continue to seek any information you may have as this effort continues, and any information you may have should be reported immediately at our website or tip line reported earlier. On behalf of Sheriff Staton, I want to thank all volunteers, investigators, pilots, civilian support and all members of the media, as well as all participating agencies for your support and efforts in this search operation.

The weather is improving, our search opportunities are expanding, and our commitment to this search has not waivered. As this search grows longer, our resolve grows stronger to find Kyron and bring him home.

Father and Stepfather Statements

I transcribed what Kyron's stepfather and father said, directly from this video:
http://www.kgw.com/video/featured-v...ly-speaks-publicly-for-1st-time-96171744.html

Stepfather's statement:

Hello, my name is Tony Young, and I am Kyron's step-father. The family has asked me to speak on their behalf today.

I would just like to say, Kyron, we miss you, we love you, and we need you home right now.

We are doing everything we can to work with law enforcement and the search and the rescue crews to make sure that you can get back to us as soon as possible.

We want to say how much we appreciate the outpouring of love and support, prayer and thoughts, as we wait for you. Your school friends and their families, the teachers, the staff at your school, and the community as a whole have shown how much impact one little boy's smile can have on a community.

You mean everything to us, and until you come home, this family is not complete.

Please, Kyron, keep up the hope. We believe in you and we know you will be back with us soon.

Father's statement:

Hi. I'm Kaine. I'm Kyron's father.

We want to thank the community, the parents, the children, the bus drivers, and all of those who are being interviewed multiple times to help find Kyron. Thank you. We as the family know how difficult and stressful this is, but memories and statements can help find Kyron. We will never be able to thank you enough for that help.

Finally, we would like to thank the media. If it was not for you showing Kyron on every newscast, printing his story in the papers, his face would not be known to everyone. People from around the nation have seen his picture. This helps tremendously. Please help us bring Kyron home.

Someone in the threads was wondering if Kyron picked his own clothes out that day or if TH or KH did. This may or may not be of any significance at all, but when the officer in this video is describing Kyron's clothing that day, he mentions brand names on everything except the shirt.

"we don't have for you the specific brand of the shirt" and he goes on to describe the CSI pictures on it and then "the shirt was REPRODUCED based on design and is black in color".

I am now wondering if TH made this T-shirt for Kyron herself and if there is any significance to his wearing it that day.

I believe the shirt was from the CSI exhibit at OMSI. My kids and I went but did not purchase a shirt.

I find it strange comparing THIS:

4) What time was FBI notified?
Answer: Between 2030 (8:30 p.m.) and 2050 (8:50 p.m.).

Is that odd to anyone else? Why was FBI notified so soon?

I believe the shirt was from the CSI exhibit at OMSI. My kids and I went but did not purchase a shirt.

Thanks, but I wonder why it had to be reproduced then (meaning they couldn't find another like it) and didn't know the brand name. Hmmm?

ETA I just did a quick CSI T-shirt search and can't find that one, 24 pages later. Maybe someone else can have better luck.

Perhaps they went to the museum and got another shirt, and used the word to distinguish the fact that the shirt they were holding up is not the ACTUAL PHYSICAL shirt Kyron was wearing that morning.

I don't know, they didn't know the brand and oddly, they gave the brand of all other clothing. I just find it interesting. Just curious, has anyone seen any pictures of Kyron wearing that shirt in his other pictures?

IIRC, there is another photo of Kyron wearing that shirt - it's an outside photo, I think. Maybe at a zoo or something?

Yes, I found it thanks. It looks like he's coming out of a tunnel at the zoo or a park. That boy has an infectious grin! I'm so praying he's alive.

Because those shirts were not sold online or in the regular gift store at OMSI. They were only produced specifically for the exhibit...so you wouldn't be able to find them elsewhere. (I think)

"We" unqualified.

Also, we conducted a road canvas today from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., in an effort to contact motorists who may have been on the road when Kyron was headed to school last Friday.

This says when Kyron was headed to school, but covers the time he would have been leaving the school.

4) What time was FBI notified?
Answer: Between 2030 (8:30 p.m.) and 2050 (8:50 p.m.).

LE can't seem to make up their mind about whether the FBI volunteered because they care, or whether MCSO called them in, as well as when that was.

"There's just no indication on anything we've got at this point that it was an abduction," Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Staton told CNN. "The child is still characterized as a missing child."

snip

"The last time this child was seen was inside the school and was never seen leaving the school," Staton told CNN. "There was nothing to indicate any kind of disruption inside the school. This is why it's so concerning to us."

http://edition.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/06/11/oregon.missing.boy/index.html

No indication (evidence) that Kyron was abducted, e.g., no disruption in the school, no Kyron screaming or struggling with anyone.

And that would also cover someone yelling across a crowded gym that they were taking their child to a medical appointment.

No indication Terri abducted Kyron. Terri did not cause nor was she involved in any disruption in the school.

Just noodlin' on what Staton's statements can and can't mean.

IIRC, this is the only time a LEO has said there was no indication of an abduction.

Whoever did this was quiet.

Earlier today, riders on horseback began searching Sauvie Island and a Blackhawk helicopter from the Oregon National Guard could also be seen above the island. By 10:30 a.m., the helicopter had made at least two passes, along a north-south line as the mounted riders began to head north along Sauvie Island Road.

Sauvie Island resident Mary Douglas said she saw the helicopter flying over the island on Thursday, but today was the first time she saw anyone searching the ground.

A crew on horseback asked to check her property this morning and went over her orchard by Multnomah Channel, Douglas said.

http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2010/06/kyron_horman_search_enters_eig.html

I believe this is the first Sauvie Island news article.

Whatever happened to Sauvie Island? When things 'go away' in a case, that is, they stop being mentioned, it seems it's usually because they've been ruled out.

I have a feeling that rumors were called in as tips and wasted LE's and searcher's time, efforts, and money, and delayed the investigation. If so, it's a terrible thing to do to a little missing endangered boy, as well as LE and the searchers. The people who live on Sauvie too. The children who live there. It must have been upsetting to them.

:twocents: :moo:

Officials have declined to provide specifics of the search parameters, saying it could hamper the investigation. However crews have searched an approximate 2-mile radius surrounding the school and have been seen along the roads leading from Skyline to the Horman home.

Though investigators won't talk about how they think Kyron disappeared, the all-out search is similar to what happens when children wander off on their own.

Is that both Kaine's and Terri's hands on Desiree? Kaine's above Terri's? Kaine's on Desiree's neck?

Or is that Kaine's on the bottom holding the tissue?

It's Terri's holding the tissue. There is another picture of this from a different angle that illustrates it better. I *think* that's Kaine's hand on Desiree's neck. Seems to be anyway.
