Steven Murray, 28, was booked into the Aiken County Jail shortly after 1 a.m. Aiken is located just outside Augusta, Georgia.

Murray has been arrested numerous times since 2005 on charges including larceny, violation of probation and unlawful possession of firearm. Murray was released from Duval County Jail on April 6 after being arrested in March for failure to appear in court for a traffic citation. He was previously charged in Duval County with failure to appear in 2015 and with burglary, dealing in stolen property and giving false information to a pawn shop in 2012.

True...but it also used to be unheard of for priests to harm others, and sadly, that's not true anymore either. There is evil everywhere in our world, unfortunately.

Edit: just to clarify, I don't mean to imply the missing priest has ever harmed anyone. I was speaking in general terms.

Oh, I totally agree with u. I was raised in a staunchly Catholic family and we were taught to respect priests as if they were God himself. When the priest/pedophile scandal broke I left the church and refused to ever go back. I have since learned that a close relative of mine was one of the many victims of our pedo priest. I have very bitter feelings about the church and priesthood, to say the least.
 
Another vigil will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the cross in St. Augustine. Organizers are asking people to wear sandals and bring candles. A reward is also being offered for any tips.

Defense attorney Randy Reep also looked at the video. He says that if the case gets to that point, a jury will almost certainly see that video.

"The idea that someday an attorney, presumptively, might be making the argument that he was very apologetic and sympathetic or showed remorse," Reep said. "We didn't see any of that. And that is going to be difficult later for whoever represents him."

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office area conducting a large-scale search on Jax's westside.
Police are asking people who live in the area of I-10 and Beaver Street, between Baldwin and I-295 to check their property thoroughly. JSO asks you call them if you find anything even remotely suspicious.
Make sure to not touch or tamper with anything you may find. Also keep a lookout for any disturbed ground or unusual smells.
JSO is also asking anyone with surveillance in the area to review video from Sunday, April 10 for any suspicious activity. You're being asked to watch out for a 2012 blue Toyota Corolla, the type of Rene drove and that suspect Steven Murray is accused of stealing.

This case is heartbreaking. Father Rene, it appears was loved by many. I pray he didn't suffer at the hands of this monster. So senseless and cruel.

Looks like they've extended that to the Baldwin area. News4Jax reports that citizens are being asked to check all property areas for disturbed ground and bodies of water. I pray he is found safe but I know that the odds are against good news.

The article has been updated. They have set up a command center at Baldwin High School. The area around Baldwin is a very rural area of Jacksonville/Duval County and there is also a lot of low-lying areas that can get swampy. It's going to be a difficult search area unless the *ahem* POI gives them better clues or the car itself can provide some hints. I sure hope that some video cameras caught the car and can start establishing a timeline and tighter location information.

The perp has a huge scar going from above his right temporal area through the scalp and above the ear--looks like 3-4 inches and totally straight. It is not fresh but looks like someone got him good with a knife or something.

This perp is a scary, druggy, crazy looking dude!

I'm hoping that LE has cell phone pings or some other data for searching that particular area ( I-10 Baldwin area). I wonder why Murray didn't go to SC via I-95 from St Augustine? That's a more direct route if his initial plans were to head there...

I read one local article this evening that indicated they had a ping in the Baldwin area, but I can't find the link now. I wonder it he'd stopped in western Jax to see his father? His dad was arrested Wednesday on an unrelated charge at a hotel off I-10 just east of 295 where the father lived (http://jacksonville.com/news/crime/...est-father-suspect-missing-priest-case-charge), and that the POI had listed as his residence.

Also the news articles I read indicated that on Tuesday (4/12), the POI eluded police while driving Robert's car, shaking them in a construction zone near I-95 and JTB (Florida SR 202).
