Stella McCartney replaces picture of ultra skinny model on Instagram and apologises to outraged fans (Daily Mail)

• Fashion designer came under fire after posting picture of emaciated model
• Hundreds expressed their disapproval, with one calling image 'disgusting'
• Issued apology saying it was a 'quick snap done backstage that was misleading'
• Comes after McCartney, 43, suggested strong women are unattractive

Fashion designer Stella came under fire from fans yesterday after posting a picture on her Instagram page of an emaciated model in a vest from her brand’s Summer 2015 collection, alongside the caption: ‘Worn well!! X Stella.’

Hundreds took to the page to express their disapproval, with one writing: ‘Disgusting. That is not worn well, it’s hanging over bones.’ Another added: ‘Appalling image. This young lady is clearly very ill and the body image being used is all that is wrong with the fashion world.'

IMO-

1). it is an ugly t shirt
2). it probably retails around $3,000.00
3). she knew a photo like this would cause negative feedback, Stella got publicity - and old marketing ploy.....
5). so sad that she could do so much for young women and their perceived body image - but choose to use this emaciated model to do her PR bidding

Guardian serves up lukewarm apologia for earlier faux pas:
---
The line that caught the public’s attention was repeated throughout show reports and news stories, and social media thereafter.

“Strength on its own in a woman is quite aggressive and not terribly attractive all the time,” McCartney was quoted as saying. “This collection is really celebrating the gentle side.”

This quote was repeated by most of the major UK broadsheet newspapers (including the Guardian) and the Daily Mail. But it went on to be condensed and respun until the it became: “Stella McCartney says strong women ‘are not terribly attractive’.”

It would be wrong to let her hang by one line when she has attempted to look at the complexities of such an issue in a way many who are furious with her have not.

What Stella McCartney really said about women, aggression and attractiveness

I must be missing something: her mother was strong & attractive, her stepmother is strong & attractive. What about the lawyer who married that actor last week? Plenty strong & plenty attractive. Maybe she meant personality? In the south when we say to a person: 'that was so ugly of you' we don't mean attractiveness, we are judging character or a moment lacking in Grace or kindness. Maybe she's still using the idea, long since trampled by some people, including myself & Emma Watson, that when women assert themselves they're being 'bossy.' Either way, Ms McCartney could use a filter between her brain & her mouth. And that 'shirt-top' looked as if it belonged on an episode of the "Walking Dead." Or someone with a gut shot.

Considering that Mrs Clooney chose one of Stella's more like able creations for the civil ceremony, no doubt seance-channeled by Bette Davis' Australian dress designer, it reflects rather badly on her mental acuity. What's that modern saying: 'You say I'm a ***** like its a bad thing?!'
