I don't know why, but I instantly thought of the Bakersfield LEO, Chris Bowersox, when I read this. He was arrested on child *advertiser censored* charges in Feb. 2010 and his on-line chats were chilling to read. He had great plans to find a little boy. I have to wonder.....he still hasn't been tried.

How did this horrid man get the infant to the hotel room? I can't even imagine the horror for the poor parents when they were shown the video. My Lord.

Colorado man accused of sexually assaulting infant boy
September 21, 2011

"A Colorado man is accused of sexually assaulting an 11-month-old infant in California, and then sharing footage of the assault on the Internet. Sheriff's deputies arrested 27-year-old Shawn McCormack Friday, just hours after a federal warrant was issued for his arrest in the March 2009 rape...."

and

"...(ICE) agents found a video of the incident on a computer seized during a *advertiser censored* raid in a separate incident in Boston in November. That's according to the arrest warrant obtained by BakersfieldNow.com. ICE agents were able to trace the location of the incident to a hotel room in Bakersfield, Calif. The child belongs to a couple in Bakersfield who let McCormack stay overnight once in awhile in 2009 while he drove around the state working for a telecommunications company...."

and

"...It doesn't appear the parents knew about the rape until viewing pictures from the tape...."

Fascinating info on how they made the arrest. Incredible investigative work. There's also a note about the fact that the parents reported their child missing at this exact time:

Colo. man accused of making video of baby rape in Bakersfield

"....The investigation began as a byproduct from another investigation on the other side of the country. The United States Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement was investigating a child *advertiser censored* case in Boston and came across this video linked to Bakersfield.

The arrest warrant details how investigators used a TV that was on in the background of the video to identify when the rape occurred. The warrant reads: "In the background of the videos (from Scene 3) episode No. 131 of the television show 'Family Matters' (Cheers Looking at You, Kid) is heard and seen playing on the hotel television. At the commercial break of the Family Matters Episode, agents determined that the Pepperidge Farms 'chocolate' commercial that aired immediately after was from 2009...."

and

"....Federal investigators then determined the line of furniture in the pornographic video was purchased by the California Best Inn. The warrant also reads: "Open source Internet searches for California Best Inn yielded a visual match for the hotel room seen in scene 3." The warrant continues to mention that federal agents were able to enhance an image from the video and found that the curtain along the vanity in the hotel room matched exactly to Room 221 of the hotel. According to investigators, a federal grand jury subpoenaed the hotel records and recovered a paper receipt and room roster showing McCormack stayed in Room 221 at the California Best Inn on March 28, 2009..."

.....an 11 month old.......aaaarrrrrghhhhhh

DD website was on this very quicky too, and had a few more details...horrific details...

I'm sorry, I wish I could zap out of my mind what I read, I just can't type the words....and it stated that the the worst of it was TOO graphic to report...
I'm a pretty passive person, but the pain I would inflict on this filth, given the chance, would be epic.

Lest we not forget the person and probably persons that downloaded such an evil, twisted, vile video. Who does that? Robert Diduca of course and we have a thread on him. Louse.

Anytime someone online utters that the "viewer" of such tragic violence against a child was "just looking" we should remind them of this case.

More on how Diduca got busted and of course how LE did such fabulous working finding this creeper. This article says that LE would not be surprised to see his name pop up again considering he traveled all over the place. Dear Lord please, please, please don't let him have harmed anymore kids. Please.

sick *advertiser censored**!

I guess there's a reason, Filly, that they call these vile groups "child *advertiser censored* rings". They just go on and on forever.

When I was writing the header, I wrote the words, "sexual assault". Then I reread the article and came upon the word "rape".

Does anyone else find it strange that the man took the infant to a motel? That doesn't seem like a typical move. Then, I noticed that Diduca worked at the Framingham Sheraton. Maybe it's nothing but the taking of an infant to a hotel/motel to abuse seems very strange. Wouldn't the child's screams be heard? What if the baby's demeanor aroused suspicions at the desk?

Why not wait until the parents left the home for a while and allowed their "friend" to stay with the baby? McCormack had obviously groomed the parents into a level of trust. I'd think he'd raise far less suspicion there.

Oh no, he bound and gagged the precious little guy AND wore a black hood over his head...

Here's the affidavit. WARNING: It is extremely graphic and disturbing:

I've been taught over the years that the most difficult sexual abuse, physical abuse and neglect to overcome is that which occurs when a child is pre-verbal. They not only do not talk, they don't form cohesive memories the way a talking child does. How do therapists work with an infant to help him heal? There will be all sorts of sensory memory implants for this baby. My heart goes out to him and his parents. How I hope that the mother was not forced to watch the assault. Surely she'd be able to identify her son by his little face.

It's also clear that this child was raped more than the one time.

O.K. just saw your last post and am afraid to read it. Without seeing the words gagged I thought this demented monster took his chances on strangers hearing a baby cry as opposed to being caught in the home if the parents went out? Always the possibility they would come home?

Meanwhile they reported their baby missing right? How did that work out? Did he just show back up with an infant and said he took the baby for ice cream or something?

Indeed these poor people. They are probably just sickened to death.

Special prayers for all the agents in these cases. Over and over watching something so disturbing to get clues. May they have peace and know we are thankful they caught this monster.

It's so sad, Filly. I read it. The dad came home late from work, checked the baby and he was fine. Dad went to take a shower, checked the baby again and the baby was GONE as was McCormack--the houseguest. Mom called LE, while Dad tried to get McCormack on the phone. He finally answered and he returned the baby to the house, wearing only a diaper. His explanation is that the baby wasn't sleeping and thus he took him out to get something at the store. Maybe he thought Dad was going to bed and wouldn't check again. There was a report but no arrest. It just so happened that the report time matched the amazing investigative evidence that LE had already gathered. They left no stone unturned in finding this child.

The baby boy was anally raped and the rape was filmed and shared. It sounds as if there were about four times, possibly in different locales. I was relieved to learn that the mother identified the child via a "sanitized" photo of her little guy. Remember, this happened in 2009 and the investigators said that the child looked to be 11 months. I'm not quite sure how they could deduce that but the child just turned 4 years old this month. Maybe they were a little off in their age estimation or I've misread something.

The horrid monster not only trussed up the baby with electrical tape but he also put tape over the baby's mouth when he cried. Possibly that's why the TV was on.

FWIW, McCormack has family in the Bakersfield, San Dimas and Glendora areas of California.

I'm a bit numb after reading this but I've been reading about child sexual abuse in the historical context and this crime has been committed over and over--literally millions of times. My Anna Salter book states that currently one in three girls have sexual contact with an adult by age 18 and one in six boys does. I don't think this crime is increasing one bit. I think that we're just more aware of it because of the internet and because the news sources no longer shy away from these stories. I, for one, am quite pleased that the affidavit was released. I want to open some eyes. We have to bear witness.

And yes, bless those agents. This one must have taken a toll.

I wish I hadn't read that affidavit. I feel completely sick to my stomach and my blood is boiling. How could someone do such a thing? Why does our society tolerate such behavior? Why do we allow these monsters back on the streets to do their evil over and over again? Trust me, he'll be out sooner than some people that are in for evading taxes. This is a sick world we live in. That poor baby.

October 2015:

Shawn McCormack, 31, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Anthony W. Ishii to life in prison for four counts of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of kidnapping...

McCormack was found guilty in April 2015 by a federal jury of kidnapping and producing child *advertiser censored* involving two toddlers...

During several of the overnight stays, in the middle of the night, McCormack snuck the couple’s toddlers out of the house and recorded his sexual abuse of them at a variety of locations, including a nearby motel, outdoors and in his truck. McCormack then returned the toddlers to the house before the parents awoke.
