Sheriff's Office Seeks Missing Washington County Woman

SPRINGDALE -- Law enforcement officers of the Washington County Sheriff's Office are investigating the disappearance of a woman from Cincinnati on Friday night.

Police are looking for Pauline Devor, 70, who was not at home when her husband, Bob Devor, returned home from a business trip to discover their house had been burglarized with several items missing. He was also unable to contact his wife, according to police.

"That's the problem, we don't know where she is at, and her husband said that there is not reason for her to be gone and nobody knows where she is at," said Jack Kimball of the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Police responded to a 9:15 p.m. report of a missing woman and a burglary at North Arkansas 244. When officers arrived they spoke to Devor, who said that none of their vehicles were missing from the house. He has not spoken to his wife since Thursday morning.

Anyone with information about Pauline Devor is asked to call Jack Kimball at 444-5775 or page him at 587-5747.

OK. I am completely confused. A woman from Cincinnati...but she lives in Arkansas and went missing from THERE? Why mention Cincinnati?

And why does the post say "PA"??

I should say here I have not had any coffee yet today....

I wonder if LE have checked the bank accounts of this couple. Maybe whoever was in the house wanted money too and made her go with them to a bank and withdraw a lot of money. Seems strange that she would be gone after someone or more had gone through the house looking for something...probably things to steal. I wonder what was missing from the house. It seems tht she would have contacted her husband if she had gone somewhere to stay until he arrived home. I hope she is alright but I have my doubts as she went missing at the same time of the burglary.

Missing Cincinnati Woman's Daughter Sought For Questioning

"Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies want to question the daughter of a Cincinnati woman who disappeared last week. . . . Devor's daughter, Delores "Dee" Eggert, 47, of Siloam Springs is wanted on an unrelated charge of theft by receiving. Deputies said she is believed to be armed with a gun taken during the burglary of the Devors' 720-acre ranch. . . . "

Boy this isn't looking good. I wonder if the daughter is a drug addict? I wonder if she came to the house knowing that her dad was gone and she murdered her mother and robbed the house. If that were the case I wonder what she would have done with her mother? Did it look like there was a fight in the house or anything like that?

They've given up the search according to this article.

“ This case is odd in that it’s hard to say whether she’s alive or not, ” said Deputy Jak Kimball with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. “ We have no physical evidence that shows she’s in danger, and there was no sign of a struggle. We’re still hoping that she’ll walk home unharmed. ”

Devor’s husband told officers that his wife has no history of mental illness and that leaving was not something she would do. He further told police that his last contact with Devor was on the morning of June 14 and that nothing sounded out of the ordinary.

Kimball said investigators do not have any conclusive evidence that Devor was taken against her will.

“ The fact that both cars were still there and the house was burglarized leads us to believe that some suspicious activity might have occurred, ” he said. “ Typically when people go missing and they leave on their own accord, we find certain evidence. In this case, there was no evidence that she even packed a bag. ”

The organization "Let's Bring Them Home" has offered to help in the search. I guess LE believes locating the daughter might will be more productive at this time?

I can't believe these cops. Where do they think a 70 yr old woman would go without a car...without calling her husband or anything else? So there is no sign of foul play...well there are times that there is no sign of foul play but there has been foul play. I really doubt that this lady at her age just took off walking down the road to start a new life. It sounds like she had a pretty nice life to me. This is just insane. When this lady is found dead then LE will sing a different tune. Why don't they assume there has been foul play and go from there? If there hasn't been then that is wonderful. Some citys have great LE and others have LE with half a brain.

Police Hope Arrest Of Devor's Daughter Cracks Case

"(Eggert's arrest) allows us to ask the questions. Whether we get the answers we're looking for or we get any answers at all -- that's a whole other story," said Washington County Sheriff's spokesman Jak Kimball. However, there is still no sign of Polly Devor. Authorities said they hope Eggert's interview can help crack the case."

I'm still not convinced the authorities are trying very hard. Devor's daughter turned herself in; the police didn't locate her.

Friday - Eggert [the daughter] told investigators she had been out of the state for the past few weeks . . . "She was also in possession of some firearms that originally we believed were taken from the home during the burglary, then come to find out they weren't, Dee [the daughter] had them. So we want to talk to her about that as well. We want to find out how she got them, why she has them, things like that," says Jak Kimball, Public Information Officer for the Washington County Sheriff's Department. Deputies say before she went out of town, Eggert dropped the guns off with a friend,

This article is the last one I can find on this case, and it's about 3 weeks old. Are they just taking the daughter's word that she was out of town when her mom disappeared and that she somehow got possession of her parents guns and gave them to a friend before she left town? Her story sounds fishy.
I hope they're not just letting this drop.

Sounds to me that the husband would be better off to hire a PI with a good reputation then to depend on LE to find his wife. For LE to say the things that they are about foul play is insane. If that was my mom missing I would be down at the PD screaming my head off until they did something. Anyone with half a brain could figure this case out.

Washington County sheriff’s deputies are still investigating the disappearance of a 70-year-old Cincinnati woman, but the leads that they have received have not helped solve the three-month-old case.

Pauline Devor was reported missing the night of June 15 after her husband returned home from a business trip. The home had been ransacked and both of the Devors’ cars were in the driveway.

Just letting anyone interested in this case know that at least the media hasn't totally forgotten about it. I think it's strange that this story makes absolutely no mention of Mrs. Devor's daughter and the stolen firearms.

They had a special on this case on the news last week, but I missed it. Here's an article with a bit more information about the daughter and a video of the newscast.:
“We got a phone call that the daughter had brought some guns to a gentleman’s house,” McClellan said. “We went there and those were the guns that were missing and since then it really hasn't been explained why those guns were missing."

Police Revisit Pauline Devor Case after 13 Months
http://www.4029tv.com/news/16905687/detail.html
Thirteen months ago, Pauline Devor’s husband returned from a business trip to find his Washington County home ransacked and his wife missing. She has not been seen since.Devor’s daughter, Delores Eggert, was named as a person of interest early on in the case. Police said she still is, but they are hopeful that the passage of time can encourage people involved in the case to speak out.

Authorities have arrested a Washington County woman on suspicion of killing her mother, who disappeared nearly two years ago.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office says 49-year-old Delores Eggert was arrested on suspicion of capital murder in the death of 70-year-old Pauline Devor...

...Authorities say the arrest of Eggert came after an unnamed female witness told police that the two had killed Devor, then set the body on fire.

Police found remains on the Devor's property earlier this month, and are awaiting DNA results.
