POLICE investigating the murder of a woman in Brisbane's CBD say they have not yet formally identified her.

A person walking through Wickham Park contacted police after finding the woman's body at the southern boundary of the park about 4.30am.

The victim is believed to be in her 20s.

He appealed for anyone in the area between 3.30am and 4.30am to contact police

Police search Roma Street Parklands, near where the woman's body was found.

Police would not disclose the victim’s injuries, but said they had launched a homicide investigation.

‘‘At this stage we’re very early in our investigations,’’ Detective Acting Inspector Thomas Armitt told reporters at the scene.

‘‘Police are appealing to members of the public who were in the area between the hours of 3.30am and 4.30am to come forward.’’

Please excuse my lack of geographic knowledge of Australia...

But is this very close to where Shey Webber or Kylie Blackwood were attacked in their homes?

TIA...:seeya:

With the mention of 'pools' (plural) - it sounds as if the girl had multiple injuries - possibly from stab, knife or gunshot wounds.
This poor girl.
The Police are being very quiet at the moment.
I hope they are onto something already.

And it says the pools of blood were across the road from the park and blood was found on the stairs leading from the road down into the park - suggesting she was actually attacked on the road.

Hopefully someone saw something. I don't know Brisbane at all - is that a 'nightlife' area??

Officers spoke to people who were in the area at the time but have not given a description of the woman or said if she was walking home or frequented the area.

It is understood detectives are investigating if the woman was a worker in the city.

I hope they ID this lady very soon.
She may be reported missing today by someone hopefully if the Police cant get any leads on who she is.

Very scant details in the media still.

.

Just heard on 1pm radio news that police are trying to identify a shirtless man who was seen in the neighbourhood before the woman was found.

Police believe that the woman was a foreign national who only moved to Qld a short time ago. Presumably they are waiting for formal identification of the woman.

Said that she suffered severe head injuries.

"A SHIRTLESS man could be the key to solving the brutal murder of a 23-year-old woman on her way to her cleaning job in the Brisbane CBD on Sunday morning.

The woman arrived in Queensland just six weeks earlier as part of a youth exchange group and police say they are yet to reach her family to break the news of her tragic death.

Detective Acting Inpector Tom Armitt said she left her apartment in The Roma St Parklands at about 4am.

"She walked through the parklands to do her job as a cleaner to head to work. From there she has approached Albert St where she was attacked."

"There is no evidence at this stage that she was sexually assaulted or robbed.

And police do not believe any weapon was used in the attack but are waiting on results from a post-mortem examination.

Police said she was attacked on the footpath on Albert Street before being dragged up a flight of stairs to Wickham Park where her body was dumped."

"We believe this man may be able to assist us with out inquiries. We are also asking for any witnesses or any persons who may have seen this shirtless male in the vicinity around Albert or the Roma St Parklands between 4am and 5am on Sunday morning."

The man is described as being of slim build, about 180cm tall and was seen leaving through Wickham park.

The victim is short and of slim build and was dressed to attend her cleaning duties."

"Specifically, we're asking anyone who was in the Roma Street Parklands, Wickham Park or on Albert Street and Wickham Terrace between the parklands and Turbot Street between 3.30 and 4.30am yesterday morning," Detective Inspector Armitt said.

What a terrible terrible crime. Can't imagine what her family in Korea must be going through. Hope there is a quick arrest.
