NM NM - Albuquerque, WhtFem 25-35, UP2926, blonde, in motel room, Jun'91

I may have found a match for George/Jorge Martinez.

He looks strikingly similar to the man in the photo with Jane.

Also, members of the subreddit /r/gratefuldoe have been in contact with the detective/investigator in charge of Jane's case, and toxicology showed she'd been on heroin. Also the unknown item with writting was a digital scale.
Wow! The resemblance is huge!

Great resemblance and great details. Thank you!

agree.... maybe hard living made her age? if she was using heroin.

any way of knowing if she was a long term user or just "partying"?

that name (jorge martinez) unfortunately is INCREDIBLY common though.
If that is THE Jorge Martinez, and if he gave an accurate DOB, he would have only been 18 in 1991. Makes me wonder if Jane Doe might also be younger than the 25-35 age range suggested.

Not sure I buy either the drug mule or prostitute angle. The scale isn't large enough for the quantities involved in drug running; it may have been for personal use or low level dealing. If she was escorting, I think she would have stashed the money or left it with a companion/manager, instead of leaving it in her purse.

Just checking in on this thread after seeing it featured on the WS FB page.

I disagree that the located mugshot for a George Martinez looks similar enough to the photo booth shot. I think the nose looks different, especially where it meets the eye brows. Close, but not close enough, IMO.

I do think that the handwriting on the back of the scale (which, until it was shared above that it was a digital scale, I really thought was a calculator) looks like it says "Martinez". I think the "i" is VERY faint and looks smeared off similar to the tail on the "z". But it could say Martnez as that is another sir name.

Agree that it does not look like she was there alone.

I agree that she may have been traveling or "leaving". She has cash, a full stocked suitcase including spray deodorant. Perhaps they broke up or he disappointed her, he left and she hung herself?

She does not appear Hispanic to me. She appears to have a much fuller face than depicted in the reconstruction, too and more rounded features.

Sad case, for sure.

No new information, but an article on this case and everyone working online to try and help...

Online posters work to crack ABQ cold case

A group of posters on the message board website "Reddit" are researching a cold case from Albuquerque, hoping to find a name for a woman no one was able to identify.

They are trying to identify a woman found in a Nob Hill motel in 1991, calling her "Albuquerque Jane Doe." She had strawberry blonde, curly hair with hazel eyes and stood at 5'7" tall. It's unlikely those who loved her know how she died, something Albuquerque Police officer Tannier Tixier says is tough.

...

I just started looking at this case after seeing it on FB.

Does anyone think that the guy in the picture with AJD looks like Marti Hetzell? http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/h/hetzell_marti.html I tend to believe that the guy in the photo is likely not missing but thought it was worth a shot!

I think she definitely looks closer to 25, but that's just me. Also, I think George Martinez owned the scale and wrote his own name on it. The cross looking "T" makes me think that. It is almost as if he had found his own way of writing his name.

I wish we knew more about the locked door on the motel room. I tend to think that it was bolted to the point that a security guard had to open it because otherwise, why wouldn't the maid or manager have opened it when they didn't check out? With more information about that locked door, there would be no question about whether it was a suicide or not.

I think the information about Eduardo Colin is curious. I wish they would have contacted him before he passed.

Very sad case. I think there's definitely enough information to identify her.

I am interested in knowing who the two mysterious individuals connected to her were. They would appear to be key to figuring out who she was.

The man who rented the room, Eduardo Colin , and the guy in the photo. Is "Colin" even the correct spelling of his surname? "Eduardo" is obviously Spanish, so would it be more likely that his last name be "Colon"? (sorry, can't figure out the accent function on my laptop).

It is frustrating that there is next to nothing in terms of background info on him.

It is strange that nobody has identified the man in the photo. I wonder why the photo was left on the table.

It is possible that she did commit suicide, and someone hurriedly "cleaned up" the scene and left.

colin is also a Mexican surname.

this whole case is so odd. it looks to me like drug dealing but they left the cash.... it is really not a cut and dry that she committed suicide to me either.

I think she committed suicide as well, particularly because of the dead bolt. I think it's possible she had a guest at some point, but the dead bolt makes it clear to me that they left before she killed herself. That's why the scale, photo, money, etc., are there. They're hers--and even if they aren't, there's no way for someone else to get back in to retrieve them.
