"FAYETTEVILLE — Terry Hayes went outside the Washington County Courthouse on Thursday evening then slipped away in the din of Bikes, Blues & BBQ before he could be sentenced for assaulting his son.
Hayes had just been convicted of holding a gun to his son's head and threatening to kill him while the boy's stepmother listened on the telephone.
When the jury returned with a sentence, Hayes was nowhere to be found . . .
. . . Hayes has an extensive, and violent, criminal past, dating to 1992. He has prior convictions for sexual abuse, failing to register as a sex offender, theft and multiple assault and battery convictions."

He was not in custody, even though he'd been convicted! They just let him walk away, and nobody noticed until the jury came back. :furious::furious::furious:
